Post What the heck!!!

I have had my Superchip for some time now. But between living in southern CA and having a couple speeding tickets i dont get very many chances to drive 100mph. Well the other night i had my chance and i stil couldnt do it. The governor cut the engine off at 100mph. I thought the superchip was suposed to eliminate this problem. When i installed the chip i thought for sure i could feel a positive difference in the tranny shifting. It felt as if it was shifting much harder and winding out a little longer. Now i wonder if this was just in my head since im certain that my governor still works. Did i screw up when i installed my chip? Do i have a defective chip? My speedo reads that im going a little faster than im really going since i have bigger tires and 4:10ls gears. But I dont think this should make a difference. Mike or somebody please help. Thanks

If you installed the chip wrong..the truck would not start at all...or run very rough. I don't believe all Superchips have the top-end limiter removed automatically. My Superchip still had the original paper work with it when I bought it used...and "remove top-end limiter" was added to the specs.

Hi Ryshark,

Those bigger tires & 4.10 gears *do* make the difference, since the speedometer is not correct. What happens when the speedo is off is you get a conflict in the various data streams the ECU looks at to confirm the basic VSS (vehcle speed sensor)data, such as engine rpms, output shaft rpms, etc., etc., and once that happens, another secondary top speed limiter kicks in, even though we have removed the normal top speed limiter instructions from the program. Without having access to the vehicle to do a real-time data capture to see just what the program is doing it at that particular point, this can be difficult to resolve in the Superchip program itself.

I would suggest giving us a call, and let's go over this in detail with you, & we'll examine all your options.
