Warning on superchip Install
Yo Moose Dude,
You have been a member of this board since February of this year. This chip board has been very active lately. Do you even read the posts? There is enough positive information in this thread alone for any educated individual to make a decision.
How much more information will it take. I am sure that you have already called Mike and provided him with the correct computer code so that he could provide you with additional supporting documentation or answer any other questions you may have.
But I'm sure you have considered all of these elements before posting your doubts.
Maybe you should just skip the chip for now, and finish high school first. Might I recommend that you devote a little extra attention in the areas of reading comprehension, spelling and grammer. Shucks, maybe then you could even add a signature line.

I hate wasting time on trivial BS. But I have to stick up for Superchip and Mike T. I installed an S-chip on my new 5.4L SCrew back in 7/00. I read all the instructions and proceeded to install the chip. Afterwards, i tried to start and no go. No problem, double check the install instructions and found some areas to recheck. I did and found the chip not quite plugged in all the way, JUST LIKE THE INSTRUCTIONS WARNED.Pushed it in and that baby fired right up! I posted a very detailed install procedure on the Supercrew site months ago for general info. I also called MIke T and thanked them for instructions that make sense. Mean while, for those of us that have the chip, you"ll hear no gripe. For those that want one, go for it. They do work. In fact, I want to put one in the wifes'Honda mobile, but she says no.
Anyway, bottom line, great product and fantastic support. I have yet to see another company even compare.
Sorry for the long post, but I couldn't sit back and not let it out !!

To Moose-man,
You've been reading all the testimonials anyone could possible ask for, right here, for months now.
What we have, my friend, is many satisfied customers, and strangely enough, a higher percentage of satisfied customers than any company I've ever worked for, owned, or even heard of that tracks that kind of statistic. Satisfied customers whose positive and many times absolute rave reviews you've been reading right here, for months on end. You've emailed me, and you have been given responses to every one of the numerous inquiries you've made, both here on F-150 Online and in emails to me personally.
I'm sorry that doesn't seem to be enough, but that's life, and so it goes, it's Christmas, and life is just too short.
We wish you well whatever you decide.

My hats off to "SuperChips" on my 1997 F250HD Powerstroke it ran 17.70 at 78 mph, after installing "SuperChip" it ran 16.60 at 81 mph nothing else on truck but a "SuperChip". I just wish my 2000 F150 5.4 would gain the same when I get my chip from "Mike T" MJD 5.4
I swear..some of you people just post just to get up on a soapbox.
I never claimed I was dissatisfied with the chip or its performance. I merely stated that the warning that came in a little red card is important enough to inform potential customers prior to purchase, rather than afterwards.
I realize that some of you live for confrontation and It makes you feel big in your small little worlds, but cmon..take a deep breath and relax.
A message board is DESIGNED so that individuals can pass information on to other individuals. I dont know it all, and you dont know it all. Thats why these things exist. If you dont like what Im saying <which by the way was not insulting or demeaning in any way> then simply move on to the next post. I read these boards for information, not to read a bunch of irate monkeys jockeying back and forth like kids fighting over a sandbox.
I appreciate the responses from individuals who express their results and experiences about the superchip and its installation procedures. The rest of you really need additional hobbies to vent frustration.

Hi Guys,
To everyone, thanks very much for your comments & your support. We will continue to try to be worthy of your praise & support. That goes without saying, but from all the nice responses in this thread, I just have to say a heartfelt, thanks.
Its' very rewarding to know that all our hard work is noticed, and appreciated. Thank you.
There will always be people who are not reasonable, or who don't seem reasonable to the rest of us; there is no entrance exam to register here on F-150 Online, and anyone can join, which is as it should be, it's a public web site and forum. And one that we support because of it's value to all those who come here seeking knowledge about anything from shocks to windshields to door cracks to performance, appearance, to you name it. What a great place, F-150 Online!!!
The vast majority of the time, we are so very lucky to have a mature, calm, friendly & intelligent bunch of people here all gathered together to enjoy, learn from, teach, and share our experiences with. It's come to be a home, where we sometimes even meet an occasional friend, and who can't use another friend?
F-150 Online is just that to me, a home and a good friend, whose company gives me great enjoyment, and I've been lucky enough to be able to meet a number of you in person at our First National F-150 Online Rally. An event that we are of course repeating this next year, bigger and even better than last years 3-day event.
If we disagree on occasion, that's ok, if we learn something from it. It's when we really don't learn anything new or worthwhile, but instead just gripe and complain over non-issues well after being made aware of the facts and beyond all reason, that it quite naturally gets tedious and tempers tend to flare. And that's when the cream rises to the top, and people show their colors, such is life, same as it ever was.
At the end of the day, we all inhabit this same planet, we all love our Fords, and most of us try to contribute here and enjoy this place. Well worth it, I say.
So let's not let this thread further deteriorate, or allow ourselves to be further annoyed. Trust me, I can tell you from many years of personal experience, and those of you who have worked "retail", as one poster commented so aptly about already know, no matter how good your product is, no matter how excellent your service, there will *always* be people who will be unreasonable, who will complain no matter what. And what annoys that type of person more than anything else in the *world*, is to be ignored.
Let's just shake hands and walk away, gang, we all have better things to do with our time. It's Christmas, and if at no other time in the year, let this be a time when we do not let other's behavior or words control our emotions, and cause us to post heated words and further fan the flames. Please, let this be a time when we're all a bit more tolerant, when we're all just a little bit quicker to smile than to frown.
Our bests to each and every one of you,

Well Mikey T., I will have to direct Neal "The HP Freak"
to this thread and let him write a book on all of the modifications that you and he have done with the chip. I think he was saying that he has had something like 2 or 3 chips now and I don't know how many re-programs. This is not a bad thing but a great thing, because Mike is working with Neal sooooooo much with reguards to how Neal wants the truck to run, that if it was another company, they may just tell Neal to go pack salt.
Guys, there is one simple phrase that I have learned when I was in college. K.I.S.S. - Keep It Simple Stupid. That phrase should be the first thing that you think of when you have a problem. Start at the simplest thing because 9 time out of 10, that will be the problem. "Connections". It's like when the monitor doesn't light up, hmmmm .... check the power "green light - that's good" and then continue to the next step till you find the problem. You may even have to re-boot the computer. Worse case scenerio, you call a computer shop (Mike T.) but at least you have done all that you can do with the situation.
I too am looking at getting a chip, as you can see from my sig., I am not a new truck. I have close to 175,000 kms. on my motor and trying to keep up to Neal & JMC is just getting harder and harder everyday. I have talked to JMC and Neal about this topic GREATLY and have talked to Mike T. via phone and e-mail and they all say the chip is the "BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK" modification that you can do. Your right, I probably shouldn't talk about the chip like this till I get one and put it into my truck BUT I have been in two trucks with the chip and have driven enough trucks without it with various motor sizes and I know what I am talking about. My a$$ tells me so !!
Final words ..... "KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK MIKE T." I'll be talking to you soon with an order.
Have Fun & Keep on Truckin'

Hi edg,
Basically, we will need to know the computer code of the vehicle (as well as normal info, name, address, etc. of course), as we program each vehicle according to the exact software revision that was loaded into it's computer from the factory. Now in the 1996 & earlier F-150's, that code sticker was supposed to be placed in the front part of the driver's side door frame, in the front part of the door frame, near the door hinges. Those codes are usually 3 letters and 1 number, though on occasion will see a 3-digit code. Many times in those models that code sticker is missing however, and you have to go to the computer itself. The computer is mounted behind the driver's kick panel, and it will have a code sticker on it that you can read without removing the computer.
One thing to remember here is that we are *not* talking about the sticker on the back of the driver's door that says "Calibration" on it, that isn't what we need, and it's a common mistake to make.
For the rest of the details, etc., just shoot us an email, or feel free to give us a call, our contact info is at the bottom of this post.

I am not trying to flame you man, but give me a break. We must have two different views about how to correspond with customers.
BTW I aknowledge that you are helpful and go out of your way sometimes to help people out, but responses like that will raise eyebrows of potential customers.

Yep, that seems to be customer service at its finest.
Well well well, Mister Helper.... Let me just go out on a limb here, and guess that you haven't even called Mike to discuss any of your customer support issues. You probably are not even considering the purchase of a superchip for your Y2K 4.2 V-6. That would mean the only purpose of your 13th post since 14 Sep. of this year would be to challenge the credibility of a service support tech that has satisfied many a customer on this list.
Please do us all a favor, in the future, before you initiate an unsupported attack on the star player of the team, do a little research. Just a little. ……
