Superchip installed!
I installed the Superchip this past Staurday and all I can say is WOW!
The instructions were very detailed and it took me approximatley 45 minutes for the entire install.
I immediately noticed the changed shift characteristics and once i got onto the highway, the improved accelleration....especdially through second and third gear.
Prior to installing the Superchip, I completely ran through a tank of 87 octane and completely ran through a tank of 93 octane, starting off with a full tank of 93 octane.
I can honestly say that the Superchip is good value for money and will hopefully be worht its weight in gold once I start seeing mileage increases. I only have 700 miles on the truch and probably wont see all the mileage gains until I have better than 1500 - 2000 miles on teh vehicle.
Now, I want to get this badboy to breath a bit better. I am leaning towards the WMS velocity tube as well as a better exhaust (Ravin 55).
Anyinput as to the performance and mileage gains of these mods would be appreciated.
Mike T. YOU DA MAN!
Cheers

I'm running all three mods (Superchip, Airforce One, and Flowmaster dual outlet), and my mileage on the first tank was 12.9 mpg all city driving. Hopefully that will improve, as I had a pretty heavy foot. I didn't do any numbers on each one individually, because I did all three at the same time. I was getting about 13mpg (city) before the mods. I have noticed that engine response and performance has improved as the computer learns about the mods and my driving habits. If I get on it now, I can get the tires to chirp when the truck shifts into 2nd gear. I haven't caught rubber in 2nd since I had a '78 Z28 in high school.

Hi G!
Glad to hear you're up and running with the Superchip, great post!
You may not see the full stock rated power or fuel mileage numbers in brand-new vehicles until you get somewhere between 4000 to as much as 8000 miles. Today's motors seal very tightly, thanks to advances in metalurgy & lubricants, so even though there is no formal break-in procedure anymore, it will take them several thousand miles to fully loosen up & make their rated power & fuel mileage numbers.
Now with regards to the mods in those other 2 areas, meaning reducing restriction on both the intake air tract and the exhaust, we generally advise the use of the Airaid brand of airbox elimination kit, they're worth 14 hp on the 5.4, and then any good cat-back exhaust system will get about the same power gains, roughly about 10-14 hp on the 5.4 motors. Those types of components are available right here in F-150 Online's store.
Good luck with your new truck!

Hi Super(crew)Freak,
Doing all 3 mods at once will really wake that truck up! You're right, you will generally feel it getting a bit stronger as you accumulate miles after your mods, as the computers fuel trim curves adapt.
Your highway mileage should certainly go up, though your city mileage may or may not, depending on your driving habits (read: how much you're enjoying the new power with your right foot!). If you alter how you normally drive in-town, meaning now you can use a bit less throttle to get the same velocity & acceleration as you did stock, then you will see an improvement in gas mileage even in city traffic. Most people don't use less throttle in-town, they tend to drive like they always did, and just enjoy the improved acceleration.
Sounds like a very nice truck, have fun!
