Hi Coolsville,

Signmaster is right, some of your questions *did* kinda get lost in the shuffle here, sorry about that!

While I responded earlier to your question of whether the gains are any different for automatics as opposed to manuals (no, gains are the same), you also wanted to know what those gains are, etc.

The gains on your 4.6 are 26 hp & 40 lbs./.ft. of torque at the flywheel. As signmanster mentioned, there are some 4.6 dyno plots available that show rear-wheel figures, and you can access those by simply clicking on the link just below in my signature line, that takes you to our online ordering system here on F-150 Online. It has those graphs as well as the pricing info. With regards to exact cost, the Webmaster prefers that we not discuss specific pricing issues on the message boards. We do offer special discounts to F-150 Online participants, so please feel free to drop us an email or give us a call, and we'll be happy to go over any specific questions you may have, etc.

thanks eveyone, mostly likely i will be getting a superchip shortly, but i am toiling with the idea of custom programing. Is it worth it? especially if i put the 4.10's in that i want

Hi Coolsville,

Well, looking at your signature line, the only thing that might put you in the territory of actually needing a custom program would be the 4.10 gears, for speedo correction. You have a manual transmission, so no need for custom programming to change shift points, etc.

Generally speaking, on these F-150's the only time you need a true custom program is when you make major mechanical modifications to the engine, so things like superchargers, nitrous oxide, ported cylinder heads, camshaft changes, tire size & gear ratio changes, etc., are some of the things that will require custom programming.

Also, remember that the Superchip is a flash module design, so it can always be updated for your vehicle at any time in the future. So if it's going to be awhile before you decide to go with 4.10's, you can always have the Superchip updated at that time.

You might want to give us a call, and let's talk about what you have in mind for your truck, and how it will affect the Superchip, etc., so you'll have a good feel for whether or not you are actually going to need a custom program, and all the other details.
