Question SuperChip on a 4.6

OK so I really want to improve the performance of my truck, and everyone has mentioned how great the SuperChip is. My question is, is it really, really worth the money you spent? I have 1999 F-150 supercab, shortbed, 4.6. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have a 97 F150 with a 4.6 and it made a hell of a difference escpecially in the transmission. As for the power gain and torque increase their there, it's hard to judge how much as each truck is different. I have 33 inch tires on teh truck and the stock rear gears 3.55.... I am impressed to asy the least.....

Many of us have the 4.6L and the 'chip. A few more miles on the F150, and it'll be Superchipped too.

If you've got the money to do it, don't even give it a second thought. It is the best perfomance bargain you can buy for these trucks. I would buy one again in a second.

Thumbs up

On my last truck (97 4.6 4x4 SC 5speed) I added the K&N air filter first, then the 40 series Flowmaster cat-back. I saw no improvement with the filter. I could feel a little improvement with the cat-back. Mostly I loved the sounds it made. Then I added the superchip. BIG BIG IMPROVEMENT!! Maybe it was because I'd already done the muffler and air so the chip could work more efficiently, whatever the reason. The chip most diffenately woke up that 4.6 engine. A lot of people try to justify the cost of the chip w/mpg savings. I justified the chips cost by the performance I got. After driving w/one, I didn't want to drive a truck without it. I've got a new truck now and one of the first things I did was buy a superchip for it. Installed it when I had about 500miles on the engine.

26 more hp, 40 ft/lbs more torque, crisp firm shifts, removal of top speed limiter, better gas mileage, all for less than $300. Best bang for the buck. Only down side is premium gas. Go for it, you won't be disapointed.

FORDTRK,

DO NOT INSTALL A CHIP! You will be haunted for the rest of your life. The silly grin on your face from ear to ear will not go away. ;-) People will stare and point at you where ever you drive. Even when you are not behind the wheel of your truck, just thinking about it will produce that haunting grin. Even your wife/girlfriend will start to get irritated by it.

Kindest regards

Jean Marc Chartier

Dear FORDTRK,

As you can see by the responses, they're very favorable, primarily because the Superchip is the single best bang-for-the-buck modification you can make to these computer controlled vehicles.

If you have any further questions, or need help with ordering info, etc., please feel free to give us a shout, our contact info is below.

Good luck with your truck!
