Mike, question on your chip
I am wondering if it is possible to get a second gear chirp on a 99 lightning with your chip.I have been givin numerous answers by superchips. If i were to buy a custom chip,How firm can u actually make the shifts?Im not asking if it is good or if i am sure or not,I am asking just one question. How hard can you make the shifts?
Thanks mike, you are so helpful. Most everybody Appriciates it.I sure do.

Dear LightningQuick,
Yes, it is possible for some of them, and others it won't, which is probably why you can get different answers on this. You see, there is some variance in the power output of these vehicles stock, some are as weak as 335 hp or so, and some are as strong as 375 hp or so stock. Most of the Lightnings making their rated power can chirp the tires on the 1-2 WOT (wide-open throttle) upshift with the Superchip.
Now in a *custom* program situation, yes, we can make most automatics hit the gears hard enough to chirp the tires on the 1-2 WOT upshift, but there are limits to what programming can do. The Superchip can dial in more of the line pressure that the transmission is ***already physically capable of producing***, but if that is not enough, then you have to get a shift kit installed. In other words, programming can increase line pressure, but only up the the transmission's physical capability to generate line pressure. Once you dial all of what is available in, then you have to modify the transmission mechanically so that it is physically capable of producing more line pressure. So it's not always going to be capable via programming alone, is what I'm trying to convey.
All of them have vastly improved shift characteristics as a result of the Superchip, as the factory programming leaves much to be desired. Feel free to give us a call and we can go over this in more detail if you like.
