Positive Superchip Results
Positive Superchip Results
It's been awhile since we talked about fuel mileage results with the Superchip, and direct before-and-after results, etc., so I thought I'd start a new thread for it. I'd like to hopefully see some posts from those who have been tracking fuel mileage before & after the Superchip, as well as their thoughts on the shift changes on the automatics. In the past we've had some really great fuel cost analyses posted, etc., and now that some additional time has gone by, and with more and more members using the Superchip now, this might be a good time for some current feedback.
Have fun,

I've been keeping detailed records (in Excel) of my gas mileage so far - about 1400 miles to date. So I'll certainly be happy to share the before and after. My truck will get about the same conditions from one gas fill-up to the next. But w/ a 38 gallon tank, It can get tricky judging the mileage from one tank to the next. But that is what time and averages are for.
I'm also looking the the better shifting. My truck seems to *hunt* or wait too long before shifting.
Now (as I've said before) all I have to do is order the chip so I can start the *after*.

Mike,
You may have seen some of my recent post on this subject. I installed the chip about one month ago. My truck only has 3500 miles on it now so Im not sure if I have hit the "best" mileage yet. I understand that I need a few more miles on this thing to reach optimum. Before the chip I was getting 14MPG. After the chip I am still only getting 14MPG. I also have Flowmasters and K&N. I drive like a maniac so that has hurt me in the past. I have driven the last 3 tanks with the lightest foot ever for me. I still only get 14MPG. As far as performance and shift points. FANTASTIC !!!!!!!! I love the strong shifting and the extra when I pull the bass boat to the lake. I am living with the MPG. Gas in Georgia is cheap.

TRITON!
I have been CHIPED for awhile and if I keep my foot out of it I can get over 17 mpg. But I have a 4.6 reg.cab FlareSide so the truck is a little lighter but my weight makes up for it. I have plat4's and 8mm wires that make some difference.

MIKE,
Just installed the chip the other night after getting my computer back from Superchips. It runs great, I noticed the shift change right away. I was afraid the shift would be to harsh before installing it, but it feels great. It has just enough sharpness to it and unless you know about it you would never feel it until I punch it. I'll let you know about the mileage as soon as i can.

Mike,
I have been chipped since my second tank of fuel. I don't have a good feel of a before the chip mileage (I was driving it easy and varying the speed per recommendations from Ford). Fist tanks 15.1 Second Tank 14.8 since the chip has been installed I have gotten an average of 15.4. I currently have 2800 miles on the SC.
I have been posting my mileage with: http://w3.atlcon.net/~elongman/f150mpg/getuserinfo.asp
This is a useful site to see how other F-150s are doing with their mileage.

When I can keep my foot from slaming the truck into WOT (there really are good reasons for doing so, I thought I saw something up ahead, I thought I saw someone next to me, I left the stove on and I've got to get home) When I can drive a whole tank of gas sensable I get 19mpg. Usually it's about 17, just depends on what's on the stove
Also I've noticed that if I use Shell 93octane I get 19mpg regardless of how I drive. But most of the time I use brand X at 92octane and $1.12 a gal. So I give up a few miles!!!

Dear Triton,
You're quite right, it will be 4000 - 6000 miles before the engine really starts to loosen up and make best power & mileage. Also, we find that sometimes fuel quality in some areas of Georgia can be a bit lower, meaning a little less energy content, so it will be interesting to see what happens to your mileage figures in the future.
Thanks for your feedback!
