microtuner plus ftvb

I've searched a lot for the answer to this question didn't quite find the answer i don't think, here's what I came up with. In order to use the ftvb with the microtuner 1715e, when you get to this part of the programming you should leave it at stock settings is this correct. My other question is this I'm new to all this mod stuff so don't flame to hard. I have a pulley question I have a 03 HD in order to get a 4lb booast do I need a #4 pulley or #6 pulley. I ask because some people have told me a #4 pulley gives 23hp so in order for a 4lb booast I will need a #6 for 40 plus hp. Which would you guys recommend with the microtuner #4 or #6 pulley? Sorry for the basic type questions. Thanks

DEX

Hi DEX,

Glad you dropped by, we're happy to answer those questions for you!

First, the current 1715 Micro Tuner has a program for either the Lightning or the Harley that will properly tune the truck for the use of a 4 PSI pulley - and with a 4 PSI pulley, what you usually see is at least a 3.2 PSI gain if you use the right blower drive belt - don't use a stock style belt, we recommend using only the Goodyear Gatorback belts as they slip less giving you more boost, and they are quieter and more durable - much better than stock, and they don't cost significantly more.

In fact, when we sell pulleys we include the proper matching size belt to use, so you don't have to worry about that.

If you want to use larger than a 4 lb. (PSI) pulley, then the 2-program Superchip Flip Chip is the way to go instead - like on my 2001 Lightning, I run 17 PSI boost and it's an 11-second truck - so I use the Flip Chip. But if I were using a 4 PSI pulley, I would be using the Micro Tuner, as it's easy to install and has so many neat features, etc.

When using the Micro Tuner along with the Factory Tech Valve Body (FTVB), we recommend not changing the shift pressures manually at first, but instead, do like you mentioned and just take the default upload, that is correct - now if you find that the light-throttle upshifts are a bit too firm (and that happens sometimes with that valve body), then you can always plug the Micro Tuner back in and lower that shift pressure to your liking, that's as very nice feature - but you want to start off with the "defaults" from the Micro Tuner, so you know what the baseline is - you may not need to adjust it at all.

What I would really suggest as your best course of action is to give us a call when you get a chance so we can spend some time going over all of this in proper detail with you - and do that before you buy *anything*. These supercharged 5.4 Harleys are different in several aspects from the Lightnings & there's info you'll want to be aware of - we specialize in the Ford F-150's performance, and serve literally *thousands* of Harley & Lightning owners, so we can take their performance just as far as anyone wants to go - or keep them as mild as you want for maximum longevity, etc.

Our contact info is below & we'll be happy to help - just give us a call when you get a chance, and if possible, do that *before* you actually order anything - we carry all these parts and we do great combo & package deals, as well as one at a time - whatever works for you, and we'll keep you from making any mistakes along the way, that's what we're here for.

Thanks for your post & I hope to speak with you soon - in the meantime, I hope this brief info helps for now, & best of luck with that beautiful Harley!
