Hypertech test run
Hypertech test run
I have about 300 miles on the truck since the new programming installed. I have tuning for 87 octane, raised rev limiter by 300rpm, firmer shifts also raised by 300 rpm, and top speed raised from 98mph to 106mph.
I can honestly say I am surprised how much of a difference it made!
The shifting was a bit off the first 100 miles but works very well now, considerably quicker and a higher shift helps acceleration across the board. The power is a noticable step up too. I'm actually surprised how much more can be tuned on 87 octane. No pinging/burping. Throttle response in OD is up, and holds hills better.
There isn't a noticable decrease in milage, but since I get company fuel, that isn't as important as getting actual, "seat of the pant" increase in power. Which it does.
All in all, even though it isn't my first choice of tuner, it worked great.
If your local people have wholesalers that are too lazy to keep up on current products and try to stuff an old model tuner down your throat, don't be too shy to try the Hypertech tuner. I am very much satisfied with it.
Thanks for all the help Mike. I know I ended up with the competition's tuner, but it was the most accessable.
All the help/info is very much appreciated. Again, thanks.
