how much hp?

Hi everyone,
I dinged my truck on the side and that has set me back for a few weeks on the chip purchase so I have another question while I wait: Realistically, how much more HP will I get with a typical chip on the 87 octane & the 91 octane programs? Thanx guys

Hi Sunny,

You list having a 1997 F-150 XLT in your profile, but no engine size is listed, and of course no details at all in your post about your vehicle - the deal is, the actual power gains vary based on which engine you have, with the larger engines gaining more power of course - though they all gain the same basic percentage of power gain, the actual HP numbers will be higher on larger motors. You get my point............

Assuming you have a V8, the 87 octane tuning generally yields about a 7-8 HP gain at the rear wheels, on average. On the 4.6 it's about 7-8 HP, and on the 5.4 it runs about 8-8.5 HP, roughly - so in round numbers, call it an 8 HP gain on 87 octane for the V8 F-150's.

On the 91 octane tuning, it depends on whether you want a program you can still do towing on, or if it's an all-out "max" performance tune - on a tow-safe program, figure about 17-18 HP, and on the "max" performance tune, 25+ HP.

Sorry to hear your truck was "wounded," good luck getting it taken care of & hang in there!

Sorry about that, my truck is a 4.6L 1997 f-150. Mike, I seen that website you showed as a link on your post and I am thinking of purchasing the microtuner chip. The thing is, I live in Canada and have no idea how to order and how CDN funds convert and all that stuff. We have this place here called MOPAc and they carry some other brand. I forgot the name but it seems like microtuner is the way to go.

Hi Sunny,

That's no problem at all, we ship these units to our customers up in Canada every day!

You can place your order right there thru our web site, which is at www.TroyerPerformance.com - click on "Shop" once the home page loads and then go into the Superchips section & order our Part# 1715. Your credit card will be charged in US dollars, and then your credit card issuing bank will do the conversion into Canadian dollars for you, so you can see that on your statement - pretty easy!

You can also place your order by just giving us a quick call at our number listed below & we'll be happy to help you that way too, if you prefer.
