programer problems?
programer problems?
i am thinking about buying a programer and was wondering if anyone had had some problems with one, like the check engine light comming on or just weird stuff, my friend used one on his chevy and it xxxxed it up, but then again it is a chevy.
Programmed fine on mine. No errors. No problems since then either (about a week).
Troyer Performance sold more tha 200 Tuners in the past three weeks or so as a group buy at another site.
If there was any trouble with these tuners, you darn sure would know about it by now!

Hi Stoner150,
Well, there are a couple different "programmers" on the market, with the Superchips Micro Tuner being by far the most desirable unit available - it has more programs & larger power gains than other units, and it tunes each individual vehicle according to it's PCM revision, giving you better performance than any other similar device.
No, you shouldn't have any problems with the Superchips Micro Tuner, it's a very reliable device as you can see from the responses here, and the manufacturer is ready to help should there be any problem.
And no, it really doesn't make any difference whether it's a GM, Mopar or FoMoCo vehicle, as each Micro Tuner is made for the specific vehicle & it's platform, and they all use the OBD-II port to upload the new program into the PCM. In other words, a Chevy shouldn't present any specific problems or difficulties in flashing the PCM like with any other vehicle, as the basic process is the same - flashing the PCM via the OBD-II port, just like the dealership service departments do.
About the only time we see a potential for problem is if someone has a weak battery in their vehicle, or tries running some accessories at the same time the Micro Tuner is flashing the PCM - like listening to the radio, etc. - that's a no-no, everything has to be off when flashing the PCM, so that full power is available - and the Micro Tuner's installation manual is very thorough, it tells you all of that.
You can take a look at the Superchips Micro Tuner on our web site at www.TroyerPerformance.com - once the home page loads, click on "Shop" & then you;ll see a page with all the individual sections - Intake, Exhaust, Superchips, etc. In the Superchips section, read up on our Part# 1715 - that's the Micro Tuner for all 1997-2003 F-series, Expeditions, etc. with V8 or V10 engines - we give very thorough & detailed descriptions there, you'll enjoy reading up on it.
And of course, please feel free to give us ac all if you'd like to go over any of this, or anything else performance-related about your vehicle, we'll be happy to help.
Enjoy your weekend & hope to hear from you!
