micro tunner

I have ordered the new 1715 and my question is it safe to leave the new program in at all times or is it hard on the truck. I have a 4.6 2001 and will be towing a trailer so I will be switching back and forth between programs. So when I am not pulling can I leave it in performance mode and is it safe for traveling etc
??????

Hi BB,

Your Micro Tuner comes with a thorough installation manual - the manual will tell you about the 3 different programs and what each is designed for. Just make sure to read & follow the instructions when you get the unit & you'll be fine.

As Bill (wmcnally) mentioned in his response, it's a good idea to spend some time reading the info already here, in other threads, as all the same basic questions that everyone wants to know about this unit have already been asked & answered many times - most recently in the thread mentioned in the response above, which is why Bill suggested reading that particular thread.

To give you a more specific answer, yes, if you want to you can just leave the tow-safe program in even when you're not towing, that won't hurt anything at all and is the easiest way to make sure you can use that vehicle any way you want to without ever having to change the program - many people will do exactly that.

You can't run the "max" performance tune when towing anything - you have to use the 3 different programs in the Micro Tuner as they were designed to be used, & the manual that comes with the unit tells you all of that.

A question that comes up frequently is, can you use the "max" performance program (which is not compatible with towing) *all* the time as long as you aren't towing - even for driving thru mountains, etc. - and the answer there is yes, you can.

That info should help a bit, & please do drop by that other thread & read all the posts there, too.

Have fun!
