Question for Mike
Hi Mike,
I want to get a Microtuner. But I have a question for you. What kind of gas would you recommend? I have searched through posts but was not too successful.
I live in Pennsylvania but go to New Jersey a lot. Any advice?
Thanks,
Jag

"What you're talking about is basically just another off-brand, or "no-name" fuel as we refer to them, all of which we advise avoiding because they almost always have a lower energy content, and the detergent additives usually aren't as good, either. Doesn't matter if it's called Sheetz, Costco, Racetrack, etc., they're off-brands. Once in a while you can find decent fuel like that, but in general that's not the case so we advise avoiding *all* off-brands or no-names, and no Exxon either, for the same reason, low energy content.
Stick with the best quality fuels is our advice (Amoco, Texaco, Conoco, Chevron, Shell, etc.), no matter what state of modification of tune your vehicle is in, and when you find a fuel that works well for you, stick with it.
Also watch out for "gasohol," fuels with 10% ethanol or methanol content. Those too are lower energy fuels, and should be avoided if possible, and used only when you can't get a better fuel. The ethanol/methanol portion of the fuel has anywhere from only 50% to 70% of the raw energy content (BTU's per gallon) of "normal" gasoline, so you drop in performance and in fuel mileage with those fuels. Hi Jag,
I don't know why you wouldn't be successful in pulling up *tons* of that info with the search feature, as I've made posts telling people what fuels to use literally *thousands* of times. Sounds like you need some practice using the search feature, as you literally couldn't ask for more info on that particular topic than what is already posted here.
Use any good quality premium gasoline of at least 91 octane, that's the bottom line with the Superchips tuning.
The brands mentioned in Linetest's post were actually a quote from a post of mine aimed to a specific individual, and are ONLY applicable for those located in the Eastern US - they are *not* applicable for the Western US, but are perfect for you in your location.
The absolute *best* performance fuel among normal pump gasolines is Sunoco's Ultra 94 octane, so anyone that has access to that we recommend using it.
