Was wondering if ther is any way to upgrade my micro tuner (about a month old) with the 22-26 hp performance program of the newest line of tuners that will be out soon?

Hi Mark,

You can't upgrade it to a 3-program unit as the future Micro Tuner will be. Shoot us an email with this question & we'll get you a response as to whether or not the program to match your vehicle's code can be changed to the new max performance program, that *might* be possible, we'll need to check on that. However, keep in mind that your Micro Tuner will always be a single-program unit in that regard.

The max performance program cannot be used for any towing, hauling loads in the bed, etc. It's strictly for maximum performance with *NO* additional load on the vehicle.

Can we get a rough idea when the new Micro Tuner will be released?

 

I have ordered the "new tuner" and know that you can't tow in the performance setting but wonder why and what happens if you do? Do you have to reset the computer( discontect and reconect battery ) every time you change from the performance to the tow setting? Thanks and can't wait for the tuner to arrive.

Are you going to be offering a trade value if you can't reprogram older Micro Tuners? I would be interested in the higher performance tuner.

 

1.) Orlando - The engine is tuned more aggressively in the max performance program, it's tuned for maximum performance with no additional load from towing or hauling a load in the bed, etc. Thus that program cannot be used when you have any more additional load on the motor. Timing is different, A/F ratios are different & numerous other aspects of the tuning are different as well. Anyone that thinks they might need to do towing, or who wants to be prepared for spur of the moment towing jobs should keep the Micro Tuner inside the truck with them at all times so they can do the 10-minute change to the towing program and thus use the unit correctly, as it is designed to be used, with the right program for the right purpose. The max performance program is a bit leaner in A/F ratio for towing, and has too much timing for towing as well - using that program for towing can cause elevated EGT's and activation of the knock sensor, thus reducing power & making the use of that program give a negative result. In short, *forget* about trying to use the max performance program while towing, use the towing program for towing.

2.) Lifeguardjoe - Nobody knows for sure- it'll be released when it's actually ready, basically. It's being "estimated" as August 18th, just to give you a rough idea, and we're already taking orders for it right now. These units are already in very heavy demand with many advance orders, so anyone that wants one anytime soon needs to get their order in, otherwise they're probably going to have to wait a little while until the channel fills & the manufacturer gets caught up.

3.) JOHNSON505 - As always, the best move is to sell it outright, but we'll probably also offer some kind of trade-in value for those who want to trade up to the new unit immediately. That's not set in stone yet, so we're getting ahead of ourselves here a little bit on this (though it's a good question, to be sure!). I'm guessing that we'll do what we always have, which is to offer some kind of trade-in value, and you'll want to call us on that. We expect most of those who want to get into the new unit will most likely sell their present unit outright here on the Classifieds simply because they'll get more for it, of course. Micro Tuners are easy for the original owner to move like that, as they have all the codes built in for all vehicles made before their production date, etc.
