Chip or Microtuner

Just as perspective, I currently own a Kawi ZX-11, which I've had now for a while.

Unlike Mike T., I've been on some form of motorcycle consistently since I was ten (I'm now 40). No one, let me repeat that again, No one should be permitted onto a motorcycle like this until they have completed a thorough motorcycle training course and have racked up a minimum number of hours on the saddle of a smaller displacement bike. How you track all this, I don't know, but that's my take on it. I am frequently amazed how quickly my bike can get outa hand with me riding it even with my years of experience. Bottom line, everyone should have the opportunity to own a bike like this, but that opportunity should be well earned.

the reason i say Suzuki is that the hybusa is currently the fastest street bike available, on one of the cable channels they ran a thing on the fastest things avaible the suzuki is listed as being cable of speeds over 190 mph, the show went on to say that the mfg have agreeded to back off on the speed of these bikes, i believe 186 (that alot safer than 190). kind of like saying tou can play with a 410 shot gun but you are not ready for the 12 ga.
btw, used to have an gsxr1100 with a big bore kit, vance and hines pipe, ported head and bigger carbs, been there done that, former members of the choir can still preach.
the purchase of any bike should require advanced training, even the current 600 are amazingly fast.

Some good posts here but I would like to take a timeout and get back to my original question here...
If I get the Microtuner, do I also have to upgrade to premium gas a la Superchip?
And, would I have to re-set it back to stock to take it to the dealer for any issues?
Thanks and keep on posting!

Hi Jaguar,
Yes, you do have to use premium gas with the Superchips Micro Tuner just like you do in the Superchip module, the basic performance programs are the same. That is one of the most basic aspects of improving performance, tuning the engine for good quality fuel.
There will be a future Micro Tuner that will have 3 programs, one for 87 octane that you can tow with and will give minimal power gains, one for premium gas you can tow with, and then a 3rd "max" performance program that requires premium gas that you *cannot* tow with. The current Micro Tuner has 1 program that requires premium gas, and you can tow with it.
You're not going to see a "significant" power gain via tuning for low-grade gas, that's what these trucks are tuned for from the factory, 87 octane. You'll see another 5-8 HP at the wheels on our 87 octane tuning, just to give you a rough idea. You'll also have the delays & retards massaged, so the vehicle will be more responsive & will accelerate a bit quicker, and have better shifting in the automatics.
Feel free to give us a call to go over this in more detail,
