I also have a 98 Nascar, i wanted to do the 3/4 drop, but have the same tire size. As far as i know, the Micro Tuner will only calibrate the speedo in 99 and newer trucks. They have a speed sensor, and the 97-98s have the gear shaft. Recalibrating is still cheap and easy via small gears. You might want to contact your dealer for those, im not sure where else you can buy them.

Keep the Nascars running!

I believe the only difference between the chip and the Micro tuner is the adjustability of the tuner. I think they both have the same programs, but the tuner has the extra code reader, shift adjustments, and speedo recal. on 99+ trucks.

As for the drop, you would just have to measure. I was thinking about putting a Lightning bumper and cover on my truck and do the 3/4 drop. Our trucks already have an air dam on them, so really, you would just have to measure.

Keep in mind, that if you do the drop, the springs have to settle, so the truck wont look right at first, but it will drop.

Hello Everyone,

In terms of the tuning difference between the Superchips Micro Tuner and the traditional Superchip module, for the most part, that tuning is the same.

However, in this case, with some of the 1998 4.6's, many of the automatic models are generally the FOU1 computer code, and we have a number of different programs for those, both more and less aggressive. Just as we have for some of the more common codes in other late-model F-150's. These are not "standard" Superchips programs, these are special programs we have to make maximum power on excellent quality fuels & for different configurations, etc. These types of special programs we have here at Performance are basically the only exception to the tuning being the same in either the Micro Tuner or the traditional Superchip.

As another poster mentioned, the way to correct teh speedo for a gear ratio and./or tire size change in the 1997 & 1998 F-150's is by changing the traditional speedo gear in the tailshaft of the transmission. The new speedo gear is under $20, relatively quick & easy to do, any Ford parts counter can order them.

The tuning in the Micro Tuner is fine to use with other modifications like intake kits, cat-back exhausts, electric fans and underdrive pulleys in the late-model F-150.

For more involved mods that require custom engine tuning to compensate for, you'll have to use the traditional Superchip module instead of the Micro Tuner. That would be for mods like a supercharger, nitrous, ported heads, cam changes, larger fuel injectors, aftermarket MAF's, etc. just to give some examples. We carry all these types of parts & more, and just about any type of performance modification available for these vehicles.

I hope that info helps, & if anyone needs more info, or needs help placing an order, etc., please feel free to give us a call, our contact info is just below.
