Question for Mike T.

Hey Mike,
I hope you enjoyed your visit to FL. Getting to work with that gorgeous 03 L.
I was wondering when I could expect to get my MicroTuner back? I know you've got things to do, so don't think I'm asking for it now, just a "ballpark" timeframe. I think you said it would be about 6-8 weeks, so I've about 4 weeks (or more) to go.
I want to get a couple of pulls on the L when it's stock, and then some with the update about a week later.
Thanks again Mike,
Dave

Hi Dave,

Gosh that Lightning looks good in that picture......a perfect blend of grey & blue, looking a bit more blue........however you got that shot, the lighting & everything just looks good enough to eat, er, steal, er......you know what I mean. Very nice.

I can't tell you what date you'll get it back, as we discussed before. No Superchip dealer in the world has any programs for the 2003 Lighting, here at Performance Products we are the *only* one, as this was our R&D project. That means it doesn't go into the Micro Tuner until *we* are comfortable that the standard performance program is ready to release nationally, coast to coast, on any good premium fuel from 91 thru 94 octane.

That being said, we're happy with the reults & everything that's happening as a result of our tuning R&D session, all of that went pretty much as we had hoped, wee didn't run into any major problems that will hold this up, but it's still going to be at least several weeks before that standard performance program gets released to all other Superchip distributors & dealers, right now only we have that.

So right now, I'm goign to *GUESS* and say somewhere in the next 3-5 weeks we'll start seeing the Micro Tuners getting the standard performance program for the 2003 Lightnings most likely, and then yours would also be updated at that same approximate point in time. We really can't get any closer than that.

The bottom line is, this really has not changed at all during any point, it's still exactly as we said it would be in the beginning. The only thing that is really newsworthy is that we were able to accomplish almost everything that we set out to do, there is just 1 or 2 more bits of data we want before we'll OK the release, and then all new Micro Tuners built after that date will get the program, and your Micro Tuner can be updated at that same time.

So the news is, the tuning went well, so we don't see any reason at this point that it would take any longer than what we originally estimated for you to get your tuning in the Micro Tuner, for your 2003 Lightning!

Now, to give you an idea of what you can expect in the way of power gains on a bone-stock 2003 Lightning.................. with conserative timing & A/F's. we saw 24.0 HP gain to the rear wheels, just a bit under 30 at the flywheel is what that equates to, so we did get a very nice gain, as usual.

So that's the scoop! Thanks again for the read on your PCM for the NLP2 code some time ago, that did enable us to take a look at the prog. beforehand, and that was nice. We got some stock 2003 L's to put our hands on to re-test & double check all our R&D on the first '03 we were doing all the modifications to, and that all went well.

Talk to you soon!

Mike,
Thanks for the detailed response. I figured about a moth or maybe two before getting it back, that's perfectly fine with me.
I like the looks of the hp gains you saw, I'm just curious what sort of tq gains you saw as well.
I really don't plan on many mods for the L. Maybe a drop-in K&N and the electric fans. Maybe exhaust in a year or two, but that's about it.
Thanks again Mike. I'll be calling you about the fan kit later.
Dave

Hi Dave,

The torque gains ran 30-32 lbs./ft. at the wheels on the bone-stock 2003 L's.

Hey Mike,
I know we could better take care of this on the phone, but lately I haven't been able to get a chance to call. Things are very busy at work since that "litttle scuffle" started over in Iraq.
My question is: Do you have any updates to when I can expect to receive my Microtuner? Don't worry, I'm not getting irritated, just curious.
Thanks for your time Mike,
Dave

Hi Dave,

Good to see you again!

That I don't know off the top of my head, my apologies, but I will pass that on to my staff for them to get you an accurate response!
