Arrow Superchip and emmissions testing

Well I just wanted to say that the first emissions test since the installation of the supercharger and the Superchip flip chip has passed with flying colors. Well, I don't know about the flying colors but it passed. I admit that I was a little concerned, being that I've done some pretty major alterations. I guess I got good quality componants and did a good job installing them. So, If there is someone on the fence about using a Superchip, don't sweat it, just do it! Though if your only going to do the Superchip, take it out before testing. I wanted to see that mine could pass with the Superchip in.

I do actually have a question for Mike or who ever might know. On the OBDII and Evaprotive Emissions Checks protion of my inspection report there are a few things that I'm not sure of. I think they say this because I reset the PCM before driving the ten miles to the dealership. Where it says: secondary air systems, it says: not supported. It also says: not supported for: Heated Catalyst. Where it says: Evaprotive Emissions Control System, it says: not ready. Now they passed me so I'm not going to make an issue with them, but I was thinking that everything had to be a: ready, or a: pass. I figure I can find info about this on my factory service manual but I figure if someone here knows what I'm talking about I can get in plain English.

Thanks!

I had my Texas OBDII emissions test with the microtuner stock program installed. Passed also..... I expected to pass, but... you never know.

I'm fairly certain that my report indicated the same type of things, except there were no "NOT READY" reports.

Actually, we highly recommend NOT removing the Superchip prior to emissions testing, as there is absolutely no need to do that. Any of these vehicles that won't pass emissions with the Superchip won't pass without it, either, there is no reason to take a Superchip off to pass emissions. It's legally certified as 50-state compliant.

Now, as to what's up there with your emissions report up there in New England Wittom, it looks to me like it's a very simple combination of a matter of your truck not being a vehicle that even has heated catalytic converters (which is true of all 1997 & up F-150's, they would have air injection if they did, and you'd have a different type of cat on there if so) along with you having recently disconnected the battery, pretty simple. You passed emissions just as you should, and if you had any kind of problem, they'd let you know about it immediately, you can count on that, they'd never miss an opportunity to cite you for emissions-related repairs.

You'll always throw a code when you've recently cleared the PCM, and for a lot longer than just 10 miles, I've had that code for over 100 miles in my Lightning and in another F-150 we have. Again, that means absolutely nothing, you'll get the same thing *anytime* you disconnect the battery, even for just 5 seconds. After all, you gotta be able to change the battery in *any* vehicle, as batteries never last forever.

Looks to me like you're in good shape there Tom, thanks for your post!

Had my inspection done recently (IN Texas with the new ODBII test) and nothing out of the ordinary everything was perfect.

I forgot about the test and when I realized they did it, I expected to see something odd or have them asking questions. Nothing, passed with flying colors!

Hi FamilyRide,

Nice to see you again!

Thanks for your post regarding your emissions testing, it's a good reminder that people can basically forget about the Superchip and go on about their business with regard to emissions testing, as it's a 50-state certified part.

By the way, how many miles do you have on it now? (just curious..........)

Cool

HI!.... I went in for my emission test a few months ago. I figured for sure that I was not even going to come close to passing. I was very surprised when it passed. And it passed with flying colours on everything but the hydro carbons. Everything else was right at the least it could be but the HC's were at their limit The set limit was 92 and I got 92. They said I was running extremely LEAN. I knew that already!LOL! It just surprised me that my truck passed because everyone here knows that my truck is severely modified. I had my SUPERCHIP flipship in, crankcase breather in, long tube headers with all new CATS and mufflers and "X" pipe.

Hi Neal,

Thanks for your post. It would be interesting to see how it sniffs now, with those new O2 sensors in place, and then also with the 90mm MAF back on there. It's amazing how much difference a nice set of O2's can make, especially with what your original units have been thru!

The Magnaflow cats we use do indeed clean up the exhaust properly (some of the hi-flow units don't), and they last a long time as well, we're very happy with their flow rate & function.
