Hello Mike

First I want to wish you and yours a very Happy Holiday season.
And thanks for everything you have helped me with the past 6 months.

Now for the on topic question. How long do you suppose it will be before the chips are ready for the 2003 Lightning?

Rocks

The card was nice.

Thanks, Rocks & of course you're very welcome, always a pleasure to work with you.

We've seen you in the Lightning section, so we know you're anxious to get it's power cranked up, & we can take care of much of that right away. We've already got intakes, exhaust, throttle bodies, electric fans, blower pulleys, 4-link style traction devices for the rear leaf setup, & much more.

There's no way to predict the future on when the 2003 Lightning tuning R&D will get done, we don't even try to give any estimates on that as it would only be pure unadulterated BS at this point, nobody can tune the 2003 Lightning yet of course. Traditionally, we're usually the first each model year to get them done, but with the changes Ford has been doing in '01 and '02 Lightnings & Mustangs, we're not in any hurry to be first on the 2003's & we'll definitely want to see a number of examples before we start releasing programs nationally. There were dozens of the 4.6 DOHC supercharged 2003 Cobra's on the dyno at Superchips before we released any programs for them. Bottom line, there's no way to say when that tuning R&D will happen, 3 weeks or 3 months after they start showing up for R&D, it's a matter of how quickly people can get us some '03 'Bolts to start working on!

As soon as we can get our hands on some 2003 Lightnings, we'll get that done of course, so as we do every model year, anyone with a 2003 Lightning that would like the benefit of dyno tuning should contact us, as the first comer that can make their Lightning available is always free at the beginning of a new model year!

So, when do we make your appointment to go down to sunny Orlando Florida to get your new 2003 Lightning done?

Merry Christmas!

Careful there Mike,

You are talking to A fellow who can definitly run to sunny Orlando for a few days or even weeks of tuning and modding.

I'll be calling you here in a few days. I have family coming in to stay at the Hotel Rocks for about 10 days, so I am busy trying to make my house "less comfortable"(cleaning).

Hi Rocks,

>>Careful there Mike, you're talking to a fellow who defintiely can..........<<<

No doubt! I'm kidding with you a bit here a bit precisely *because* you tend to get things done "right now" in general. Once you make up your mind to do something, you don't like to wait. Sounds like the guy staring back at me in the mirror...........

I got the call from our SVT dealer that their initial shipment of 2003 Lightnings hit a few days ago, just FYI..........

I don't know what the status of your particular 2003 Lightning's buildout is, but if you do happen to be lucky enough to be one of the earliest deliveries, and would like to maybe explore putting it on the dyno down at Superchips, just let us know.

In the meantime, you can count on us letting you know as soon as tuning for '03 Bolts is ready, just in case your Lightning isn't one of the first to come in, etc.

I'm already green with envy, as you 2003 owners are finally getting decent quality carpeting comparable to the Harley's (the Lightning's interior has always been sadly lacking in comparison), a nicer steering wheel, better interior trim, and of course, the suspension upgrades that increase bed load capacity to 1400 lbs. (and will hopefully help launch, too) and the new wheels, etc.

I'm going to replace the carpet in our '01 Lightning as soon as I can get an extra 2003 Lightning cabin carpet from Ford, and we should have the rear suspension work finished in the next month or so......really just trying to decide if I want to put a full roll cage in it, as that's uncomfortable & inconvenient in such a small cabin on the street. I'm sure at some point I'll go ahead and do it, as it's power levels & performance have required it for some time now. IHRA tracks you can usually run down to about 11.50 or so before the full cage is mandatory, at NHRA-sactioned tracks it's required for anything quicker than 12.0 ET's. I just hate caging the interior as that changes the character of the vehicle and it's look so much, and at that point we can't hide it's performance level anymore. Once you're caged, everyone instantly knows it's at least well into the 11's..............

Best of luck with your delivery time Rocks, & take care!

Mike,

I am suppose to be taking delivery here in the next few days. My truck is on a train headed this way. My dealer told me 2 days ago it was sitting in the Kansas City Mixing yard. If it isn't here by Monday, I may drive to it with a trailer and pick it up...J/K.

I'll be calling you.

I was just thinking about something else. If my truck were used to set up tuning for the 2003 L's, wouldn't that kind of make my girl the Momma of all 2003 L's??? I like the way that sounds.LOL

Hi ROcks,

Actually, we make quite a distinction for the very first Lightning made available each model year, you're right about that, we'll also do a feature on our web site if it's a customer of ours. Of course, we don't release tuning nationally after just one vehicle has been on the dyno, we have to see more vehicles to determine variances, etc., do testing on the 91 octane fuels out West, etc. We never know what we're going to find, we may find Ford has changed things so much that it takes a few months to get happy with the tuning for a national release, as it did with teh 2003 Cobra, or we may find that we get it knocked out very quickly, it all just depends on the changes that we find in the '03.

You know, we just might be able to work it out so that I personally can come down to Florida as well, I do need to get back down to the facility. I don't know if I can work that into my schedule, but it would be nice, as there are specific things that we need to have them do in our programs.

We'll need to talk about this in some detail, obviously.

Good luck on it arriving in time for Christmas, we've got everything but our cranks & cams crossed for good luck for a Christmas delivery for you!
