Here's a little something I found that may help...
...it is in the primer...in almost 100% of the cases, the paint must be taken down to bare metal and start again otherwise it will just be a repeat process in anywhere from 6 months to a few years. There is lots of documentation going back before 1990 and continuing through the late 2000's .....most of which was a result of Ford contracting out the paint application operations.....not enough thickness, drying time to the primers...

beechkid tried to pass that around on the site here, so hard to tell where he got it from and if it is true.
He is the same guy that claims he got Ford to pay to repaint his 1990 truck ( starting with bare metal ) in 1997 for this due to this.
- too many things from him do not pass the sniff test.
If it was from a problem with the paint process at the primer step, all colors would have the same problem and your 2003 ( depending on the mfgr date ) would have the same problem as Black KingRanch's truck.
He might be confusing crow's feet with the TSB on bubbling / blistering of paint, from 2000 to 2005, on the AL parts due to iron contamination on the aluminum panel itself, not an issue with the primer.
This TSB, the paint had to be removed to bare metal to remove the iron contamination as the source of the problem, not the primer that needed to be removed to get to that step. If the panel was not taken down to bare metal the problem could happen again in short order.
- Even new body panels in primer could have the same issue.

For light colors Coli 845 is one of my favorites!
Bright, shiny and very good longevity.
I just did a vehicle that I know the owner never took care of.
Knowing the owner neglects his paint I used Coli 845.
Why you ask? It's an excellent "bang for the buck" for durability.

As much as I hate to agree with Beechkid, he is indeed correct in this one instance. I know because the guy I work for in the winter (with a whole fleet of Ford F-350's) had our 1989 repainted by Ford at no charge. As I recall, the problem was the single stage color coat literally falling off and the cause was over baked primer.

its by meguiar's. And I'll take a photo really quick. It has some water spots on it so it's not 100% clean. most of the truck looks like that. I've talked to other First gen SuperCrew owners that have dark colored trucks and they all said their's are doing it too this is the exact stuff and the dark blue and black trucks tend to check and the Oxford white tends to peel off for some reason
