Average Charge for Washing vehicles?

I'm considering starting to detail vehicles on weekends once the summer comes around. I'm uncertain if its really worth my time? I enjoy keeping my truck spotless, but there's no way I can clean someone elses vehicle like I clean mine for $40. I'm looking to do it for extra $$$ and b/c I enjoy taking something dirty and making it look new.

The average person will not want more than a basic interior and exterior wash. What what be a fair price to charge for the basic cleaning of the interior and exterior with tire and fender well dressing and a quick detail spray?

And what would be a fair price on cleaning interior and exterior including clay bar and a hand wax along with the tire, fender well and any other black plastic dressing?

I have been researching little by little on a full detail and understand what has to be done, but I honestly don't think anyone will pay me enough to put 20-30 hours in removing swirls. What kind of price would you put on a full detail including clay bar, compound, polish and wax?

I saw on a detailing forum, a list of detailers by location. I went to a few sites
and saw prices that went from 75 dollars for a basic wash and interior vacuming
all the way up to 250 dollars for a complete detail that included claying. I'd
check out a few of those forums.

Thanks. I'll search the detailing forums.

$250 and I'm wondering why you're only charging that much.

The detail shop that was attached to the dealership I used to work for used to charge $25 extra for a wash/interior wipe down/vacuum along with a oil change which was $35.
Alone the wash/ interior wipe down/vacuum was $55.

A full detail/wax was $500.

Most detailers are a little hesitant to talk pricing. Check with several in your area and get quotes for what they would charge to do your vehicle, and work from there.

You need to keep in mind what your experience level is, and what you ability level is when comparing pricing with others.

What I would charge would be a lot different than what you would charge.

There is a ton of things to consider when you start doing this for pay.

Insurance, waste water control, environmental issues, etc.
