Clayed, Waxed, detailed, now I get a film on the paint.

So,

I tried doing the right thing. I clayed the truck, I used a cleaner wax, then I used a paste wax. The truck looked great. I had never waxed it before and I bought it in 2004.

Before I would get the truck dirty then I'd take it to the car wash and spray off all the dirt.

Now after the detail job, I get it dirty and take it to the car wash and spray off all I can, but there is a dark colored film that remains and it cannot be sprayed off!!!

It's fairly faint but it can definitely be seen. I wan wipe it with one finger and it comes right off but it just won't spray off!!

What the hell? I used to have this same problem with a white Jeep I had once.

And this just started after the detail. What happened??

Did you use Armor All on the trim by chance? That can leave marks even after a rain if used on the trim (window moulding, bed liner, bumper, etc)

well sure I could wipe it off,,

but I could also hand wash it every time and that would take care of the problem too.

but I'm lazy. And I'm kinda ticked that now that I waxed it up, it's harder to clean.

It's supposed to be the opposite way.

I did everything by hand.

first I handwashed it using Meg's classic car wash
then I clayed it using Meg's quick detail as a lube.
then I used Megs cleaner wax
then I used megs gold class paste wax

I'll try to get some pics.

Sounds to me like you have a really thick coat of wax on the paint. The dirt will stick to the wax if it is to thick. Thus you can't spray it off but you can wipe it off. If you used paste wax and got a little carried away you could very easily not buff it enough and leave to much on the paint.

I would recommend you go get a liquid wax and try to rewash and wax the truck. 10-1 says you get a way better shine and no more sticking dirt.

Go get some NXT 2.0 liquid, rub it in REAL THIN with the foam pad it comes with, let it dry an hour, then remove with MF.

Reads like product was left on the paint or not completely buffed off. Very thin coats is optimal, any more and it can be a pain.
