Adam's metal polish
Here are a couple of before and after shots of my Magnaflow polished stainless steel exhaust tips. The first 2 pictures are what they looked like after a hard New England winter. If you are squeamish, please don't look.
http://www.truckblog.com/gallery/Mark05KR/33559.JPG http://www.truckblog.com/gallery/Mark05KR/33560.JPG Those pictures were taken after I had used a couple of stainless steel cleaners which obviously did nothing to clean these tips. The following pictures show the results I was able to obtain using Adam's Metal Polish #1 followed by Metal Polish #2. I used the #1 with 00 grade steel wool. That was followed by #2 using 00 grade steel wool. I then finished by using the #2 with a cotton cloth. I gotta' tell ya, this stuff is awesome! These tips now have a mirror shine and are as smooth as a babies bottom. http://www.truckblog.com/gallery/Mark05KR/33561.JPG http://www.truckblog.com/gallery/Mark05KR/33562.JPG |
Looks good. I really like Adam's Metal Polish 1 and 2.

wow... that loooks amazing...
I got a chrome tip on mine....big mistake, so I just paint mine whenever it gets dirty. IT was black for a while, and is now silver. |
looks great. anyone else use adams metal polish?
|
wow that really came out good I have the same exhaust and looks almost the same way...I will have to get me some of that I use all the other stuff from Adams also ...good stuff...
|
You certainly have to be pleased with those results!
If I didn't have #1, #2, and #3 of the Heavy Metal Polishes... which I think are the second best metal polishes, I would consider getting some of that stuff to try. Plus, I have some of this stuff... which I think is the absolute best metal polish... incredible stuff!!!!! http://www.englishcustompolishing.co.../showmans.html With that said, you can't argue with the results you got from the Adam's products. |

Yeah, I was very happy with the way they came out.
I just wish someone would develop a top coat of some sort that would protect the stainless or chrome tips from that kind of grime. Like a clear coat or polymer type wax. At least something that would make it a bit easier to clean that crap off. |

BTW, if you find a 'silver bullet' to make that gunk easier to remove, let us know! :) My procedure is Body Solvent followed by me muttering several 'choice words' about the level of gunk that I allowed to build up on my tips... I then will follow with some 'junk' clay, NXT Metal Polysh or Heavy Metal Polish (although, I'm out of it right now) Green Wadding x multiple passes. For that tiny amount of area, it gets a BOATLOAD of time devoted to it. -RP- |
I wonder how well one of those wheel waxes like Chemical Guys, PB and others have would help to protect them. I imagine they're designed to withstand heat although I doubt it'll withstand the heat that an exhaust sees but I can't see it hurting. Especially if applied each time you wash the vehicle.

The problem for me is WINTER. The truck goes through the entire winter up here with only an occasional wash, sometimes only a water rinse. There's not frakin' way in the world that I am going to spend 45 minutes to an hour out in the freezing cold, sitting on snow, to clean my exhaust tips.
The Wife and I have figured out a solution. We are moving south. And I am not buying another house that does not have a garage, or at least a car port. |
metal polish
