303 test: Rinsed with hose pic.
Well, as you can see a (soft water,) plain water rinse with the hose, pretty much took care of the 303. It came off of there like a honeymoon wedding dress. I didn't spray it that hard, trying to simulate a rain shower obviously.
Pre 303. I washed the shutter with NXT shampoo, an everyday scrub brush, and a soft water rinse. Todays photo after a plain water rinse. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70...r/IMG_9783.jpg Yesterdays photo after 3 coats of 303. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70...r/IMG_9780.jpg |
Ugh... that's disappointing.

303 does nothing for protection against rain. It rinses right off. Only thing it's good for is UV protection in dry climates.
Here in the Seattle area I can put on 303 after a wash. But the next day after a light drizzle there are streaks on my paint from the 303 running off. |
something must be happening with it. all the trim that is on my truck is treated with 303 and when i was my truck it beads EXTREMELY well. when i drive off, the water on the trim flys right off the trim and its dry like i never even washed the truck. i swear by 303

Never one to say I told you so, but.............
 That definitely solidifies what I thought. Edit: thanks for running that little test for me. |
Damn! Good Call Quack!

I think another good test would be to treat a piece of rubber and see if the effect was the same as when 303 was applied to vinyl. That may be why everyone has differing opinions about how long it lasts. It may absorb into the rubber better. Just a thought.

Something about that shutter must make it impossible for anything to soak in. I use 303 on my mirrors and other exterior vinyls and I get absolutely no run-off from washes or rains
|
Maybe it is differnt vinyl then used on vehicles... cause i used it on my boat and patio furniture and no fading and i could never see it run off...reapplied every 3 months?????
|
I'm sure the material compounds are different but this is easy enough to test out...
somebody go 50/50 a mirror and take some pics. First to see if there is any real discernable difference between the treated area and the non treated. Then hit it with the hose test and take more pics to see what the result is. This could get interesting. :coffee: |
So I guess Megs #40?
|
On the vinyl and rubber parts of my '07 Harley I get run off /streaks on the paint using 303. Even morning dew will make it run.
|
i will run that test on my steps for my step side. i have them off for detailing. ill do half treated half left alone and ill run it under the sink for a while and see what happens. ill run it at different temps too. anything else i should try why im at it? sand blasting to really put it to the test??? haha :rocker:
|
Sounds good Midnight! Thanks for offering to do that test...and thanks rusty for doing that test on the shutters!
