Compound mistake
 

Hi, A friend of mine reccomended a bit too coarse a compound I think to remove some scratches. Anyway, I washed polished and waxed, even tried a color wax and there still appears to be a bit of a dull area-not real noticeable but you definitely notice it if you move you head from side to side. Why he did such a large area for such a small scratch, I'll never know. Anyway, he meant well.

Suggestions? Wax stripper then wax and power buffer? The truck is black and F150 and only 3 months old!:mad:

What kind of compound did you use, and how bad is the hazing?

For sure, you will need to re-polish the area to remove the hazing/dull finish.

Compound marring can be removed by lighter polishes but, like Boss mentioned, we kind of need to know how bad the marring is... have any pictures?

I hate to say that I don't have a digital camera but I don't! It's not too bad-you see your shiny face in the rest of the car but it is a bit cloudy in the area in question. I think that I notice it because the truck is new and I have awareness of it. I don't think the person on the street would catch it.

Based on this, we can get a better feel for how 'marred' your surface is... Each compound has it's own unique characteristics and, most likely, someone here has probably used what you used and can help out...

Not sure about what to do with the haze but let me know if you want a few suggestions with what to do with your "friend":devil:
