My question is what is the best way to clean my grey Catch All Extreme Floormats. The winter has not been to kind to them. They are looking years old, however I have only had them for 6 months.

I tried the Armor All Cleaner (not protectant) and all I removed was surface dirt. There is a lot of grime that is packed down pretty good. I thought about using dish soap, but was hesitant about using a more harsh cleaner?

What do you use?

I used to have the carpeted version of the catch all's. I really miss them. I used to use a power washer and air dry. After 4 years of hunting and power washing they'd still look brand new.

 

I too have the carpeted ones, but the Extreme are some kind of rubber or like material. I would use Castrol Super Cleaner or maybe Simple Green. Spray some on, scrub with a brush, hose off and dry in the sun.

 

APT is right on target. I've got the Xtremes, also. Every couple of truck washes, I take out the driver's mat, soak it in soapy water, then scrub it with a brush.
If you haven't tried a brush and soap yet, give it a try...if that doesn't work well enough, move on to some stronger cleaners and brush like APT mentioned.

One household product I've used to clean a lot of interior stuff with is Soft Scrub. That stuff is increadible!! Never had any issues with discoloration, either. Just rinse and your good to go!

That is what I wanted to hear.....that people have used more harsh chemicals without ruining the color. Would hate to ruin mats that are not even a year old.

keep in mind the purpose of the floor mats is to protect the carpet.

That's like saying you're afraid of damaging an undershirt in the laundry...

wash the crap out of them. when they wear out, replace them

heck, I put my carpeted factory floor mats in the washing machine! they get almost as clean as new.

Greased Lightning works great with a scrub brush!

 

Point well taken J150, however I just didn't want to turn them white or something by using too harsh of a cleaner.

 

I have the extremes, and I clean them with Castrol super clean. It works perfectly, and does not dull the color. After the hard Montana winter they looked like crap, but the super clean made them look brand new again.

MOTHERS Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner worked great for me in my last car. Much better than other things I had tried like that Dry Clean from Blue Corral (YUCK!).

I have the Nifty Premiums and plan to clean them the same way although so far they haven't needed anything but a quick vacuuming (only had them a month).

 

I have the 'polymer/plastic' catch-all extremes in my truck and simple green and hose off does it nicely. If you have the carpeted version, try Blue Coral Dri-Clean. SOme versions come with a brush built into the cap. I use it for all my floor / carpeted intereiors on all my vehciles, and its never stained / distorted color and ALWAYS cleaned the carpets.

Blue Coral is some great carpet / fabric cleaner.
