Keys Won't Work

I brought my 98 F150 used and got two keys. Both keys has a small letter "S" on them. Could my keys be valet keys and not the primary keys that open all doors and lock and unlock the handle of the tailgate? My keys will not open the passenger door, nor lock or unlock the handle of the tailgate. Is there a separate key for the tailgate?

I got two keys with my new 1999, they were the same and worked everything, tailgate etc....

I don't think there is such a thing as a valet key for the f150.

I had a key made for my Ford Windstar from an original and it would work the ignition but not the door locks. Sounds similiar to what you're going through.

I don't think you have the original keys, they should say 'Ford' on them somewhere.

No seperate keys to my knowledge... do your keys have large black heads on them that say FORD? Will they start your truck?

1998 didn't have the computer chip (Big head) key.
That started in 1999.

my keys wouldn't open my pass. door/ i put the tube end of a lubricant spray into the lock and filled it up. it has worked every since. the dealer said i washed my truck to much and washed all the lube out. i used 3in1 spray. it's worth a shot.
