Is maguars scratch X too abrasive

... for light scratches and swirls in my hood? My truck is less than six months old and I have some light swirls and a small scratch on the hood. None are in the paint all seem to be in the clearcoat and none are that noticable.

Can I use scratch-X to remove the clearcoat scratches in my entire hood or is Scratch -X meant for just spots?

Thanks
Tom

scratch X is great for hiding small scratches and scuffs, but its fillers, and won't permantly remove the scratches.

Meguiar's Scratch X isn't really that abrasive. Like Harley said it is mainly fillers.

I'd get something like Meguiar's #9 or one of Poorboy's polishes. Those will remove those cobweb swirls. You will then just have to maintain and prevent them after you've removed them.

I looked everywhere for meguiar's #9. Where can you get it?

Pepboys sells it...

Also, if you can't find it there, www.meguiars.com

I'm almost positive I've seen it at Autozone as well...

If not, like I said, you can order it online:

The Wally World near my home also carries it. You might try there. I agree with Intel, I've tried them both and far prefer the Meguiars #9 Swirl Remover. Just remember, this product is only a polish, so to get the best results you'll need to cover the finish with a good wax once your done with the #9. Good luck.

tfleming,

Go to Meguiar's website, and then do a search for a dealer in your area that handles the "Professional" line of products............ not the consumer line. Some automotive paint stores handle the professional line.

These guys seem to carry the full line of several of the mainstream products routinely discussed here (Meguiars, P21S, One Grand, 3M). The site is really straight forward (just click the company name on the left) and the prices seem competitively equal to others.

I got my Mequiar's #9 and Chilton's manual from them.
