Used F-150, 2012 to 2016

I'm thinking about a used F-150 purchase in the 2012-2016 low mileage range (<50K). I got burned with my 2004 with the frozen plug issue and would prefer that I not repeat that with my anticipated purchase. Any defects that are hidden in the weeds with those model years? Opinions would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance

The early Ecoboosts had an intercooler issue, but easily fixed. Ecoboosts also need spark plug changes about every 40k, but it's straightforward.

There have been a few issues with the electric power steering rack and the traction control system. Moonroofs have been known to rattle and leak.

As glc said, there were some minor issues/annoyances with them. But most of them just need a little time and patience to fix. Not bad trucks.

Also, from what I'm hearing 2014 seems to be the most trouble-free year.

Thanks for the info. The plug issue cost me big bucks so I didn't want to repeat that mistake. Thanks so much for the input.

The plugs in the 5.0 or the Eco of those years are not like the 5.4 plugs at all.

You shouldn't neglect the oil change schedule on the ecoboost since the oil gets diluted with fuel over time.

Roadie has a good point. That and any turbo engine should have good clean oil in it for the bearings of the turbo.

Turbos are delicate pieces of engineering.

Again, thanks for the feedback. It helps to have many inputs for this possible purchase. Thanks for taking the time. Much appreciated.
