Low Profile Deezee tool box w/toolbox tonneau cover doesn't work.

I installed the Deezee toolbox on my 2004 and bought a tonneau cover that goes from the toolbox back but the lock and handles on the toolbox sit so low that i can't reach it if i put the tonneau cover on...so my option was to get 2 pieces of 2x4 and painted with black spray paint and then herculiner roll on and put it under the toolbox to lift it up alittle.......is that a good or bad idea?

I will have some pictures later

Whoever sold you the cover should have known this and told you that you can't put a tonneau on with low-profile toolbox.

You can do what you said but I would sell the low-pro and get a regular box that works with the cover.

i had an extang tool box tonneau that sits behind my tool box and it works cuz i dont have a low pro which also give me more space. agreed when the shop that sold you the tonneau should have know

ah okay that sucks.....i really like the low pro.....does the full size version of it go all the way to the bottom of the bed? or just full size up?

thejake1989 Sep 28, 2009 05:29 PM

the one i have just sits up higher. check my album or link in sig if you want to see pics.

i am going to be getting a low pro most likely when i get a black one soon and dont use the tonneau any more

ah okay good to know.....I liked the fact that i could still fit flat tables under it since it doesnt go all the way down....cheapest way would be to lift it but since this had some external and internal damages i want to see what the company can do for me.

Here's some pics of the fitment issues;

yea a simple spacer would do the trick. i like having mine up also so i can put long items in and still close the tailgate as opposed to the in bed on i had in my old truck.

alright good so a piece of 2x4 will be fine? lol as weird as that seems, it may work well

........

thejake1989 Sep 28, 2009 10:55 PM

we talking wood or metal? metal will last longer and look better.

edgespeeder06 Sep 28, 2009 11:35 PM

I was thinking wood.....metal? what type are we looking at? I just don't want it to pop out and fly away too, just a bunch of stuff to worry about as well.

thejake1989 Sep 28, 2009 11:42 PM

i would forsee more problems with the wood and looks. just a rectangle piece metal 2x4 like you wanted in wood. doesnt have to be strong but itll look better and last alot longer

yup true....i will see what i can come up with.
