I let a guy borrow my truck (against my better judgment), - Well he ripped up my stock leather (I think) bed cover with a fricken Hi-Lo

I really liked that bed cover - It's the plastic snap/rail type, but it's always worked for me.

Anyways, I wasn't happy - So I have a blank signed check here- Let's party!

Nah lol - Where can get a cover Similar to that one?

BTW - I like the snap look as well.

i think ive heard before extang makes a good soft cover

 

ive got an extang toolbox tonneau from my 98. its black leather and made for the 6.5ft bed with an over the rails toolbox. there should be two pics of it in my gallery

edit... its the snap type that rolls up if needed and installs with rails that are clamped to the bed sides

 

I've had two Extang covers now. The first one was the Tuff Tono for my Ford Ranger. It was great, except when I tried to install it, it would not fit, and it turned out I had a tarp for an S-10 in the box. Customer service was great, and sent out a new tarp right away along with some cleaner and a set of tie-down cleats.

My F-150 has a Full-Tilt unit on it now. I needed to get some additional weather-stripping sent out, as it did not seal on the front bed rail and tailgate right, and two snaps were missing. Last week, I got a replacement tarp under warranty, because the original looks to have a spot that was cut nearly through in manufacturing. Again, customer service did a great job (3 days between sending the email, and having a new tarp on my door step), but I really would rather have had things right from the start.

I think they have a great product line, and their lifetime warranty is a selling point. I just think they need to slow down and do better checks before they ship stuff out. (I have to say, though, the only way I saw the cut pattern wasa from the inside with light shining from behind it.) Even with my issues, I would recommend looking at the product.

I guess I'll go ahead with it next week. I want to wait and see if there's any reasons why I shouldn't purchase that one lol.

Actually, the BlackMax is the one I was going to get until I got a smokin' deal on the FullTilt. (Price match + Summit Bucks = <$200 out the door for me.)

Yea this is the one I'm replacing -



The BlackMax has upgraded connectors (snap system) - It looks really nice, I just hope the vinyl is the same quality. As far as material, it rates well in comparison to the other more expensive covers.

No Summit Bucks accumulated here. I had a Tilt Type on an 01, but it only opened so far and it was a PITA.

I'm also not to crazy about how some of those Tilt Types make the bed look taller on the outside. Guess I'm picky :o

BTW - I think that guy bent my tailgate -Damn! He was hauling 400 lb concrete steps - 3 of them. Oh well, the checks still open / already signed.

 

All the Extang covers have a 10-year warranty on the tarp, so I'll bet it's the same material.

I don't like some of the hard tonneaus for the sane reason, jbrew. But the FullTilt looks just like a regular tonneau cover, but the frame and all tilts up. I can also unsnap the cover and roll it back. The bows will not come out, though, without some disassembly. I don't like that fact, but, if I know I'm going to be hauling something, I can have the whole thing off and in the garage in under two minutes.

Before you mount it, call Extang, and tell them you need two more pieces of weather strip like are on the side rails. (Don't let them send you just one, there's not enough.) You'll want to cut one to put on the rear cover rail to seal against the tailgate, and one under the (mounted) frame up front. If you set the frame in place, you'll see there's a gap.

You've been a big help Andy. Like I said, I like the snap look and that one has that, but the biggest bonus will be removing when needed. She comes off in ONE PIECE!

I've had to remove the cover here there at times and it can be a PITA getting it back in place, - specially in the winter. In the summer, I had to lay it out in the sun for awhile in order to get it back on - No problem after the sun cooks it lol. The winter, I would have to put a little space heater under it for awhile lol. Yea what a PITA.

So yea, I'm going to like the new one and I'm ordering Monday. I'll be sure to get the extra weather stripping.
