Thumbs up The Tonneau I am looking for??? help??

I had a bed cover that was collapsable aluminum with the foam in between the aluminun. It would fold back against the bed like an accordian allowing me to put something in the back of my truck or ride the dog around. It also locked but was not 100% water proof. More like a water resistant weather proof with too many moving parts that rattled and worn out. I am looking for a tough bed cover to keep out the weather as well as somebody interested in what I may have in the back of my truck, and have the option of easy removal or foldaway. If there is such a great option out there, what do you all reccomend ???????????????? THANKS !!

I've had the Bacflip G2 on my 06 Lariat 4x4 for a bit more than a year now and have been very pleased. It folds in quarters, allowing for use of part or all of the bed. It can ride folded completely up against the back window or be removed with just two wing nuts and replaced in minutes. With my locking tailgate it locks down and even wroks well with the Roush spoiler I added afterwards. I'll admit a small amount of water can drip in but in a downpour the bed stays pretty darned dry.

It's an easy install, first flush, looks good and has met my expectations.

Sounds like you had a Paragon cover. In my opinion, one of the WORST covers on the market.

I recommend Undercover. It does not fold but it COVERS your rails and tailgate making it more water resistant. It's easily removeable, lightweight, you can stand on it, has a 3 LED light.

That would be a Pace Edwards Full Metal Jack Rabbit. However, for the same money, you could get a TruckCoversUSA cover which is superior to the Jack Rabbit.

Get one of the Bakflip G2's or HD's.
They look like great covers and I've heard nothing but great things about them.

I looked at one at a truck store the other day and I was impressed.

Dumb video but shows you how it works...

For a folding cover that you asked about that you wanted you can't beat the Fold-A-Cover G4 Elite series or just the standard LS series. They work great and I haven't had any of the wear issues with them that you described with your old cover and I haven't had any complaints about water issues either.

Here is a link to their website:

Here's more info:

The TCUSA is double walled aluminum and can hold over 500 pounds. It also has the smallest canister at only 8" x 8". The aluminum slats are interconnected (unlike the PE).

TCUSA:

PE Full Metal:

Jack Rabbit on top, Full Metal on bottom:

One more thing to mention:

All retractable covers have water drain tubes that must (or should) go through the bed to the outside of the truck. Most retractable covers have two drain tubes (both in the front of the bed). However, the TCUSA has four drain tubes, two in the front and two at the rear of the bed. That means that two additional holes will be drilled on your truck. The rear holes (1.25" diameter) are drilled just below the stake pocket well. Rubber grommets come with the cover so the holes/tube look nice when completed.

I have a Fold-A-Cover on and love it. 2 locks, one on front panel and one on rear panel, You can fold it up from front to back or back to front. Also have a bedrug and see no signs of water intrusion.

You know, FoldACover used to be very popular, but sort of lost ground for no particular reason. Their newer G4 Elite is the one to get. I recall one person reporting that the rubber that covers the "piano" hinges cracked. But, I believe they are replaceable.

This is NOT the newer model, this is the older LS model:

Thanks

Obviously there are several good selections to decide on here. I like the one that covers the sides and I def want one that locks. I guess looking to one that saves the most space and keeps out the moisture is the one to go with. Yes, the one I had last time was Aluminum and had like a rubberized black paint on it. All the moving parts such as rollers and sliders wore out in about 2 years. Then the paint started to fade and wash off !!!! Thanks GUYS !!
