For the undercarraige, I would say its not worth it since it won't be that visible.

The regular line-x is just as tough and fade free without the X-coating...the X-tra is mainly to make the finish glossy and help color matching really match and stay glossy.

Fading is the wrong word, cause it doesn't fade at all, X-tra or not...but the shine of regular line-x will go away after a while and settle to a flat black. Its not faded though, just not shiny.

Actually, here's what happens with regular LINE-X (without Xtra) and other similiar aromatic bedliners:

UV light from the sun causes the pigment at the surface to "breakout" of bedliner product. So, the surface loses pigment which makes it appear "faded".

You can keep regular LINE-X looking good by applying an aftermarket "Armoral" type product on it like Just Once (justonce.com) or 303 Aerospace. But, a better idea is to get LINE-X Xtra and never have to deal with a fading bedliner.

I've used both JustOnce and just tried the 303 Aerospace today on my Line-X (without Xtra). They both work very well. The 303 leaves a bit more greasy residue than JustOnce; after the application...but it does eventually dry.
