Very happy with how it came out.... i told them to do Line-x xtra but not sure if thats what it is(had a local shop do this, Line-x guy came and picked up my truck) they said its basically some kind of UV spray? its still tacky so i cant really use my liner until tomorrow, but its mainly for show anyway

For $30, I can tell you it's probably not Xtra. It's probably black Nason paint, it takes about 4 hours to become tack free. Both Xtra and Nason work great. Tell you what, 5 years from now, your bedliner will still look like it does now!

Logos are usually free.

CONGRATS!

Ford wrote LINE-X corporate a letter about 3 or 4 years ago telling LINE-X to tell their dealers to stop spraying the Ford trademarked logo. The LINE-X dealer should not have sprayed that logo and to make matters worse, he charged you for it. I (and many other LINE-X dealers) have a Ford logo stencil, but will not spray the logo. Consider yourself very lucky.

Quick question TG: I know it is frowned upon, but can the Ford logo be applied to my existing Line-X job?

Line-X color matched bedliner

I had the Line-X dealer match the color of my KR to the bedliner, and I think it came out great.

Thank the Lawyer types for that!! If Ford, or anyone else with a trade mark, does not "aggressively" protect their property, they lose it!! That means, if Ford allows anyone to use, apply, charge for, or otherwise include their trademarked logo without compensating Ford, they could lose the ownership of that trademark. Meaning Line-X could become the owner of the Ford logo!!!

Now, that's why Line-X can't put the Ford Logo on your liner.

That statement is a load of crap. Trademarked logos are protected by law. This is something you learn in a college business class. Put it on whatever you like. You will proably get sued eventually, but you WILL NEVER gain control or ownership of a trademark unless they purchase or are given the trademark rights.

The reason that some Line-X dealers won;t do it is because they don;t want to be sued, not because they might assume ownership.

Flag and Lightning...

Both of you are semi-correct, and semi-erroneous.. Lightining.... if the truth be told, you probably owe flagship an appology for the call-out.

Ok, the deal is... we don't apply the logo because.
1) we don't want to get sued..
2) We don't want to loose our franchise by getting them sued..

Now,it is true that Line-X will NOT gain control of the trademark, but IT IS ALSO TRUE that if Ford does not aggressively defend their trademark that they will loose it. It will become public domain.
