Well I did this today and it took me about 2 hours. I was nervous handling the airbag but it worked out ok. The only problem I have now is the lights on the steering wheel are out. They worked before so I'll have to go back in...

I was a little nervous w/ the airbag too. It's funny, I sit in front of it all day long and don't think twice about it. As soon as I'm holding it in my hands, I'm as nervous as a ***** in church.

Good luck on your lights issue ...

Lights fixed. Turns out they were crimped by the airbag so I just moved them a bit and all is well. Thanks for a great write up.

I know this is a pretty old thread, but I want to replace my old worn vinyl steering wheel with leather. Unfortunately, the F75Z-3600-AAB part has been discontinued and I can't find one anywhere (tried eBay too).

Does anyone know if the steering wheel for a 2000 F-150 will fit my 1998 F-150? It looks the same but I'd hate to spend $300 on a steering wheel and it not fit. The 2000 F-150 black leather steering wheel uses part 1L3Z-3600-EAA.

I'm 99% sure any '97-'03 (+ '04 Heritage) F-150 steering wheel will work for you, as well as the steering wheels from Expeditions/Navigators of the same generation ('97-'02?) and from early ('99-'07?) Super Duty/Excursions. I'm pretty sure any wheel that looks like yours will fit ...

Thanks, I found one on eBay and the seller said he will accept the return if it doesn't fit... but I can't justify spending $360 for a steering wheel.
