Nice write up!
Back to the tweeter thing. It looks like the tweeter had some sort of a cross over on the speaker, If that is what it was. Do you get bass out of the tweeter now that makes the sound distorted?

The tweeter is unplugged and taped out of the way. Is silence a high or low note?

Ha Ha, I thought it said you TAPPED into the big wire, But I guess the tweeter is not used.
Silence is a high note cause I always hear the voices yelling.

I hear ya. I like that feeling of know what your going to find when you take it apart because you've seen someone else do it first. Did it go fast?

awsome write up!

Thanks for the info. Posts like this give people (like me) more confidence to do these types of jobs. One question though: did you notice a diference without the factory tweeter. I know that the new speaker has it "incorperated" but not in the same location. I was wondering if tweeter location (up higher) would make a diference.

Thanks for expressing your appreciation for the post. I did not notice the change in tweeter location. All I notice is that my iPod plays crisper and louder on the new speakers. I was able to turn the volume up to full playing Earth Wind and Fire "Can't Hide Love," with zero distortion. I don't know the volume my iPod is set at, so it may not be at full.
