Could anyone be more specific on which clips are holding the glass on to the motor?

BLK and towpig,

When I did my mirror caps on my '08, you just move the glass around to the lower left corner on your pass mirror (right on driver) and there are three clips holding the mirror on via a ball and socket style configuration. My friend and I gently wiggled the glass, and the ball on the back of the mirror popped out of the socket...no broken glass, no broken clips.

I just looked at my iPhone pics, and I didn't take pics of the mirrorless assembly, but I seem to remember the clips being silver...

I started painting mine today. Here is the backside of my mirror. There are a total of 8 little clips holding it on. (2 on each corner)

Here they are from the side. Basically you just need to tilt the mirror so you can just pull these tabs back with your fingers or whatever else you want to use.

Thanks, this is the best picture I've seen!

I just pry back those little tabs that are to the left and right of those four bigger 'U' shaped brackets?

If that's it, I've been entirely overthinking this haha

Yup, its those little tabs. 2 in each corner. Really simple once you actually know what you're trying to do.
