Bump #2...headed out to do it now. After the monsoon rains we had earlier this week I decided to just get it over with and replace the seal.

Talking Size Does Matter

Also, when using the urethane sealant, put down a generous bead of the stuff. I put down a small bead that I "thought" was about the same size of the tape that Ford used. When I was done the window leaked worst that it did before I "Fixed-it." So, I did it again yesterday, with a bigger bead of sealant, and it worked like a charm.

Did the same thing. Shined a light through and looked from the inside. Saw 2 small spots that aren't sealed. Looks like I'm tearing it out and re doing it tomorrow.
Put enough on the first time. If you thing the bead is big enough, make it bigger.

Well we just got a pretty good rain here, and mine leaks worse that I origionally thought. I pulled up the kick plate trim, there was 1/4" of water in that little trough the carpet tucks into by my drivers seat......... Yeah LOT's of water... So saturday morning I know what I'll be doing. I dont have a choice but to do this before it rains again!

Did this this weekend, wasnt bad. Only took like 10 minutes & I had everything apart and ready to cut the seal & pop the frame out. What took the longest was cleaning the old gasket off. I scrapped all the thick off, then used goo-gone and it really did the trick, got the excess off no problem. Now, just got to wait for the next rain and see if I did a good job!

One tip to get the factory sealant off, it remains super sticky so use it to pull itself off, just keep balling it up and pressing it into the stuff still stuck to the window, you'll probably get 90% off this way, then use goo-gone or similar for the rest.
I used rtv silicone to seal when I switched from a solid window to a slider needless to say it didn't work, so I'm gonna use the window-weld when I get time to re-do it.

Question: Should the urethane primer be used? I replaced a windshield a few yrs back on my Monte and didn't use it and it leaked like crazy, really don't wanna have tis happen again

RTV should not be used to seal windows. It is caustic to most automotive paint.

It is a good idea to use the primer when using urethane though if there is no gloss or wax on the surface the urethane will often adhere.
Also, some urethane window sealants are self priming so read the directions.

Thanks for posting this. Ive got to replace the whole window cause the frame itself is cracked so thats where the water is getting in through. Got a window today, gonna do it in a couple of weeks whne my dad gets home(truck driver). He is a little more mechanically inclined than my brother so id rather keep towels in my truck and a tarp over it when not driving than to have to do it over.
Great how to by the way!

Have you ever seen one of these trucks that has a slider with the piece of ruber that seals the top of the slider hanging down? well that piece of rubber on my truck is completely gone. Is there any way to replace it? I also need to pull the whole window and reseal it, but i dont wanna buy a new window to fix the slider.
