Sure, it's fine, you just tripped a code in the computer that told you you had a problem. That code stays there until it's cleared, even though what caused it is fixed.

Thank you!

Great write-up! My truck has been idling a little rough here and there lately so I though I would give this a try. It took me about 5 minutes to do...

My truck now runs like it just came from the factory. (smooth) I even think it is shifting better. I might try cleaning out the throttle body next...

Thanks for the article Bluejay!!! I did mine today...took me 15 minutes because I waited to make sure the MAF was completely dry before re-installing it. This made a huge difference, now it seems like my truck runs a lot smother and the shaking while in drive at a stop is very minimal unlike before. I guess you guys call this rough idle...well my rough idle is no longer rough. Im new to this forum and a recently first time owner of these types of trucks. I purchased my 2005 F-150 XLT 5.4 Triton two weeks ago with 88,000 miles, clean title, from the 1st original owner. I guess this guy paid $40,000 plus back in 2005 for this truck. The truck came with a 6" lift right out of a San Diego Ford show room. Kelly Blue Book private sale is $13,500 and I scooped it up for about almost $5,000 bellow KBB. What a deal! I couldn't pass on it. I always wanted a lifted truck. I love this truck guys!

Sounds like you picked up a nice truck for a good price. Glad the insturtions helped and now you may want to clean the throttle body. I bet that will help too, if it has not been done. Welcome to the site!

My truck has 108k miles and I don't think the MAF had ever been cleaned before. It had been running a little rough so I decided to follow your write up and wow what a difference. She runs like a whole new truck now. Throttle body cleaning and changing the fuel filter are next on my list. Thanks for the how to
