Mine ended up in the shop for 75 days. New short block and one new head. Ford wouldn't throw in another head. Seems to run good with no valve train noise. I saw the invoice they were sending Ford for $5,300. They chalked it up to a stuck fuel injector, but I still believe it was trash from removing the plug that damaged the number 8 cylinder. Wether it was or not it ended up right at $10,000.

I had a thought on the broken plug removal. If i disabled the ignition system and used the starter to turn the engine. Would the broken plug shoot out or get loose enough for removal. Some of the older v10 gas engines had problem with plugs being shoot out. thoughts questions advise??? Please advise..

Thanks

Regards, alex

getting the porcelain out

Hey dude, nice write-up

Just have a few questions. 1 could you do a step by step-by-step why on making and using the tool for us head to comprehend folks like myself. I got the allthread and the #4-40 tap which I tried to buy the #43 drill bit. However, the store did not have one. Go figure. Went to five stores looking for the 2" hex standoff. I got nothing! When I say standoff people behind the counter thought I was speaking a foreign language. The #2-56 screws was a no go. They only had some that was a 1/4 to 1/2 inch long. As you can see this is getting troublesome. I need my truck up and running like yesterday. You can order the stuff online but it takes forever to come in. Can I bypass the standoff and just a make multiple extractors and just discard after use like the pin, since I will nor be using it again anyway?
Thanks for the help. Looking forward to your help.

3 out of 8 plugs broke after 4 day soaking in pb. Had not read the updated tsb beforehand.

Oiy......

http://www.amazon.com/Lisle-LIS65600.../dp/B00267PZUK

Auto parts stores also carry it

Lisle sparkplug removal tool 65600 superceeds this method.....use carb cleaner instead of the pb blaster stuff.....
