Thanks for the post did mine tonight, i used a 3 inch rubber coupler instead of the abs adapter (no glue). I didn't notice a difference on the power side maybe it runs smoother but its probable cause its the first time i never had my radio full blast.

so should i disconnect the battery or just leave it?
i have an 2005

It is not necessary to unhook the battery. The PCM will adjust automatically.

Did mine today. Doesn't really feel any different. Only thing I've noticed is that it MIGHT sound a little differently. Maybe it'll take a little bit to notice something....

I'm running the Edge Evo programmer in level 3 with no custom tunes. Will doing this mod affect anything?

Should not be a problem with an 06. Were it a 2004-2005, I would say not do it, just to be safe.

Did it as well... going to get a drop-in filter is a couple of weeks. it pulls a bit petter near 2k, but I don't go over that so really just pulling onto the highway or in traffic does it seem a bit better

I asked the creator of this and he said it is ok. All you are doing is opening the inlet a tad more. the inlet was always 3" but the actual end of the intake was narrowed. The PCM should adjust as it seems to have for many of ours. If you relocate the MAF like on a commercial intake then you have an issue with altering A/F ratios which could potentially cause a lean condition on the 04-05s

I run this mod on my 06 with no problems. Worked fine with my EDGE Evo while I had it and also works fine with my PHP Gryphon and custom tunes.

Yes, should be no problem. I have it done on my 05 with the Gryphon custom tune.

So the 5.4 intake confuses me, where the intake tube conects to where the filter housing is there is no seal of anykind. So what i'm saying its not pulling all of it air from the tube but also sucks in hot are from where the tube fits in. Anyone else notice this?

So I read this article last night and had to join the forum today to share my story. Got of work tonight and used a dremmel to cut off my intake silencers. I stopped by the Autozone on the way home and bought a K&N and the Spectra tube. Finished the mod in the parking lot in something like 2 minutes, very easy, and if nothing else uplifting. My engine sounds louder, my truck idles around 500, before it was up about 1000 especially when cool, like 60 degrees and I unwhittingly did a pretty loud burn out leaving the parking lot though I can't really tell to well if I have more power. Traffic was really bad so I was hard to get a good feel, though the throttle response feels allot better. Thanks to everyone on this post, your information and pictures helped so much and made this a breeze.

Now that this mod is complete I can plug up all of the holes on the intake pipe correct? Like the ones on the underside that are like 1/4 of an inch? For now I duct taped up the ones from the billows.

Glad to hear it worked out. I got the K&N today and it made a difference. Much better response after this mod and with the Gryphon tuner in a few months, it should be even better. The holes I think you can plug with the sprinkler plug things. I think they were mentioned earlier in the thread. I'll try to dig it up for ya
