Rustoleum Spray on Bed Liner/ Rockers and Bumpers Done!

I posted this over on my website and thought I'd share it here. This is a great alternative to paying BIG money for the Line X (great stuff btw) and for people that don't like the extreme rough texture of products like Herculiner etc. This sprays on great and Has a very tough durable finish. I done my Rockers,Chrome bumpers,Alum Tool box and my emblems. Oh and it's $7.98 a can at autozone and walmart.

Took 2-3 cans for the rockers and 2 cans for the bumpers. 1 can for the box. So for around $50 not counting self etching primer for the bumpers you can do this with some left over :beers:

As far as the bumper you will want to ruff it up with 60-100 grit and then go with the self etching primer. Then black primer. Then 3-4 good coats of the bed liner:coffee:

Keep us updated on how this holds up. I've been planning on doing this with line-x but the price I was quoted was almost a grand. This is way more in my budget.

It holds up great....I've done entire trucks in it (my old toyota 4x4 and my old ranger 4x4) and took them threw the woods with great results:rocker:

I personally just cleaned the rockers and sprayed them. But I would advise you to go over them with a 1500 grit and clean really good.

Wow, that looks awesome! I have been wanting to get a diamond plated truck box for my truck, but haven't been able to find any good deals on used black ones. Maybe I will pick-up a chrome one and just do what you did to it. What prep did you do to the truck box?

Agent47 02-06-2011 06:08 PM

I sprayed the bed of my truck with it, for the most part it works pretty well but it does peel off in places from time to time. i don't put much in the back of my truck either that could damage the coating but it does stop the rain/snow from getting to the metal. nice job though.
