Alright, I'm gonna give this a shot soon. After some snowy weather, both my pregnant wife and I were slipping all over these chrome bars. The black plastic pads are OK (not great though) but the chrome parts are absolutely dangerous!

My first instinct was to call my local Line-X dealer and have it done "right". For the $395 it would cost me for Line-X, I might as well just buy new ones...

I have it on my fender lip moldings, front grill, running boards and bed rails, not only does it go on easy, it keeps a very consistent texture, and has gone through many car washes. the flat black tone of it looks great next to the black paint

So this thread has been going on for a while... I just looked into it a week ago. painted my bumpers, plastics and two-tone in it... love it!!!

This stuff is EASY... Basic paint prep... sand, primer layers, Rustoleum layers then clear coat layers... looks fantastic! Pics below.

JRM, I used Duplicolor clear coat it's the only way to go. I did all of it back in late february and it has held up to two hand washes. I use the Turtle Wax spray wax and it comes out great. I don't use the wax on the liner of course.

How do y'all think it will look on my dark green f150 instead of the tan 2 tone it has on it now? i plasti-dipped my wheels, painted my running boards black and my grill black. i want to do both bumpers, my rockers and my fender flares. and how many cans of primer and bedliner would it take?

I bought 4 self etching and 4 regular black primer. Pretty sure I used 6 cans of bed liner(still have a can and a half left) then 4 cans of clear coat.

I've been thinking about doing something like this for a while. I can see that there is some shine to it... How much would any of you say compared to satin black? My badges and new custom rock sliders are all satin black (updated pics coming soon, need/want to wash first) and I would like for it to at least be a close match. I guess I could always paint over it.

I done my Rockers,Chrome bumpers,Alum Tool box and my emblems. Oh and it's $7.98 a can at autozone and walmart.

I agree, this product is awesome. I did my running boards about a year ago, and they are still perfect. I also did the plastic bed rail covers, the wheel lip moldings, the mirrors and the tie downs on my flare-side. I have a factory bedliner, so I didn't do that, but everywhere I put it, it has lasted. I need to figure out how to take the stepside covers off to get them done also. it is non slip and looks like a pro finish.
It goes on extremey easy, and even if you mess it up it dries right. great product

Tape Off Doors

So this is probably a dumb question, but how did you tape off your doors and make the line straight? I've never done this type of thing but I really want to, yet it seems like I would really need to be careful taping off the doors to make the line straight.

Also I don't have a chrome bumper, I have a 2004 FX4 so I think my bumper part is the same as my door. So would I still need to use that self etching primer?
