Question Restoring Bedrail Appearance

My 05's bedrails are looking fairly faded due to sun damage. I've used ArmorAll and it is not restoring the finish or repairing the sunspots.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Krylon fusion spray paint...there's a thread in the how-to section on doing the windshield cowl like this, and I did the same thing with my bedrails

I have a 05 Ford Flareside FX4 with a lot of plastic trim. Lately I have found Stoner Trim Shine works really well if you want to give it a shot.

This is the best to do IMO. I used Krylon Fusion Satin Black on my fender flares and they turned out great.

I looked up those How-To's and they mentioned sanding down the rails before hand. Using Krylon do I really need to prep the surface that much other than cleaning the surface really well?? I don't want to lose the grainy look of the rails as they are now.

Thanks,

Some steel wool would work fine.

mr clean magic eraser will be good to remove any and all dirt. Spray 2-3 coats of krylon fusion, and 2-3 coats of clear coat. I did all that on my rear window trim and it came out lookin bomb!

Thanks,
Or, you could do what I did; take a stiff nylon bristle brush, and a spray bottle of simple green, and degrease the crap out of the part you're painting, rinse, and let it sit until it's completely dry, then proceed to paint

I had bad luck with Krylon. I used rustoleum textured for my bed rails and flares.

Just another option.

Heres a before and after pic
