Installed HID's today!
Ordered the H13 bixenon 6000k kit for my headlights on Wednesday evening from Retro Solutions and they arrived at my home midday Saturday. I had to work Saturday night, so all I managed to get done when I got home that night was to take out the old headlights. This morning I woke up and completed the install in about an hour. The setup is 100% plug-and-play, no splicing. The cables are even color-coded (red goes to red on the battery, blacks are grounds). My drive home from work tonight will be the first test over 5 minutes in duration...hopefully that goes well. I had a couple questions about the setup before they arrived and received an e-mail response from Todd at Retro Solutions in a reasonable time-frame. I know his kits are a little more pricey than some of the others, but as long as they work as advertised I'll be 100% happy. My girlfriend saw the difference in color between my new HID heads and the factory fogs and said, "Ew...was that the color of your stock headlights? You're changing the fog lights to HID too, right?" hahaha
After 30 seconds https://www.f150online.com/forums/me...30-seconds.jpg After 5 minutes https://www.f150online.com/forums/me...-5-minutes.jpg Looking forward https://www.f150online.com/forums/me...ng-forward.jpg Honestly, I'm afraid I'm going to be blinding oncoming traffic heading home tonight. I have a nice horizontal cutoff, but these HID's are so much brighter than stock that I'm expecting to get flashed (not in a good way of course). Has everyone else had to aim their heads down after putting in their HID's? |
Love them! look awesome man!

Looks great but i would aim them down just a tad and if you get flased then hit 'em with the brights
|
I wish mine had bright's, they just shut off when I do the high beams.

My truck is lifted 6 inches with 35s and i dont get flashed ever. Aim them down properly and you'll be fine.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I drove home from work last night and although the nighttime turned into day in front of my very eyes, I didn't get flashed a single time. I even passed several police cars and they seemed to not notice me at all. So for now, I think I'm good. I did pull up to the garage with lights on to see if one looked higher than the other...seems the driver's beam is close to 1" higher than the passenger, so I may adjust it down to where they are even just to be safe. :D

SWEET. Love em!!!! and they look great

Looks great man... Got to love the look of HIDS

I am sure you will enjoy them. I have had mine for a good 8 months. I would never go back to regular bulbs again. Makes driving at night like daytime in front of the truck. When I get some more money will be buying fogs to match.
