WOW!!! RECON's New L.E.D. 3rd brake light - PICS
Fellas,
Below are some pics of RECON's new LED third brake lights installed on an older 1997-2003 body style F150. What do y'all think? I bought mine directly off their website: http://www.reconaccessories.com I used a coupon code from this month's Truckin' Magazine and it saved me an extra 5%....the code is TR3113 for any of you that are interested. http://x10.putfile.com/10/29423274631.jpg http://x10.putfile.com/10/29423270589.jpg http://x10.putfile.com/10/29423273352.jpg Gotta say, they look really nice and the brake light is much brighter than the stock halogen. The cargo lights also look great because they have a hint of blue when they are illuminated. -Steve |
Here a couple of pics of the RECON LED 3rd brake light installed on a newer 2004 to 2006 F150....really sweet lookin, huh?

You got taken if you paid $120. You can get the OEM Lightning 3rd brake light for $70 at Karkraft. Warning for all the uneducated viewers. This is not DOT approved and the OEM Lightning one is cheaper.

$76 for the OE Ford piece is a good deal. BTW: The Recon 3rd brake light is DOT approved. I just called the company and they faxed me the NHTSA certification which states it is DOT in all 50 states. I'm keepin the paper in my truck in case I get pulled over. By the way does the OEM Lightning light also use white LED cargo lights? Thnx, Steve

No, the cargo lights are regular bulbs, but you get more intensity out of regular bulbs than you do with LEDs anyway, so IMO it is better that way. They aren't on very often anyway.
