i'm upgrading 4 door speakers with a 4ch amp. do i need line out converters and one or two? and one or two sets of RCA's? I also didn't think i had to run speaker wire from the amp to all the speakers, is there another way to get the signal to the speakers, possibly through the head unit(i thought the RCA's took care of that, but i don't see how)? i thought i could do this myself, but now i'm rethinking. help please.

Do you plan to use the factory headunit? If so check the amplifier you are buying, many amps come with a built in line converter. What you'll do in this case is run 4 lengths of speaker wire from the old speaker wires (or from the head unit) to the new amp's line in connections and then running 4 wires to the new speakers.

Crutchfield offers a 4 channel line output converter here: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-WOXnMXF...=721&I=142SLC4 and at $19 it's not a bad deal. Which still requires tapping into the old speaker wires then connecting to RCA cables to the amps.

Either way you have to route wires (either 2 pair of RCA or 4 speaker) from the headunit to the amp and wires to the new speakers. You're pretty much stuck running all new wires. It's pretty simple and not worth paying someone to do it unless you physically can't do it.

When hooking up the line output converter, where exactly do we tap in. I know the speaker wires is the obvious answer, but is there some sort of adapter and diagram showing which wires to use?

might make a new post or searching for an answer to that question since I'm not sure on the heritege models. Probably easier just to pull the speakers and look at the color codes on the wires. Then tap into those same wires behind the headunit.
