Q-Logic's Custom Q-Forms kick panels for JL's XR653's. Pros/Cons? Alternatives???????
I have purchased a set of JL's XR653's (3-way set, 6 1/2's 4's and tweets)
Q-Logic's Custom Q-Forms seem to be the most inexpensive and non-invasive way to go for a 3-way set such as this. I am open to any suggestions. I may trade this in within 2 years so I want to do as little cutting as possible to my truck incase the buyer is not interested in paying extra for stereo equipment. I know one of the cons of the Q-forms is their stiffness. I have heard some people have reinforced them with fiberglass or put dynamat on them? Any tips on getting the 6 1/2's in the doors? I've heard there may be some cutting necessary? |
Only bad things I have heard about them is that they are a little flimsy, as you said, and they are also open back, so your driver is running free air-which might not bother you at all, usually doesnt for most people. Dconder used a pair of them, maybe he will chime in with a little info.

I think for running 4", they would be great. I used them with 5 1/4" Rainbows and I loved them. I just switched to the doors for really no good reason. Other than I cut up the kicks to try some 6 1/2" Diamonds. In my opinion, the Q Logic kicks are really good for what they are.

Thanks Dconder, I would think that the 4's would not pose a problem since they are just going to be producing the upper range of sound. The 6 1/2's in the doors will be taking on most the tuff stuff. Audio shops like to talk about Q-forms like they are total junk but I think they just get sick of losing business to them. They look stock, they are clean, they do not hack stock panels and they are relatively cheap compared to custom enclosures.
