2 Channel Bridged

I've got a quick question that hopefully someone can help me out.

My 16 yr old nephew just bought 2 -15" RF Punch 1 subs for his 1st system. He is looking for a decent amp for under $200. Which this may be hard to find, but he's on a very tight budget.

He came across an Audiobahn A4002 2-channel amp for $199. If I recall correctly, I believe if it's bridged, it say's it'll push 400watts. The subs are rated up to 200watts rms.

Would this amp work, if bridged? If not, what would you suggest for under $200.

Like I said, this is his 1st system going in his 1st car and not alot of money

Personally Id look for something other than A-Bahn. Not exactley what you would call good.

Does he need the power at 4 ohms or 2 ohms?

If he wants cheap, but good, check out US Acoustics.
Or if he doesnt care about buying off ebay, you can get some good deals.

It'll be 4 ohms.

He was talking to Crutchfield and they mentioned getting a Profile amp. What do you think of that?

Any other suggestions?

Some say they get by with them, others hate them, Ive heard to many bad things about them, so personally I would stay away from them.

Maybe a leftover RF 401S
Crutchfield carries US acoustics.

Are the subs 4ohm dvc? or what? There are plenty of wiring options to work with, this information might help.

Each sub is 4ohm. The way Rockford suggest wiring them, will bring them to a 2ohm.

Here i found the subs http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/produ...punch_grid.asp

The only configurations are 4 and 8 single voice coil subs, so im guessing your friend has the 4ohm svc's.

So the overall independence for both of those subs wired together would be at 2ohms into the amp.

So you need a 400 watt rms x1 @ 2ohms or possibly use a 2 channel amp and wire the subs seperately so that wold be 200 watt rms x 2 @ 4ohms like this amp http://www.woofersetc.com/product.as...8&1=349&3=2688

But i would go with an amp more like this one http://www.woofersetc.com/product.as...2&1=363&3=2167 and MTX is usually known for sligtly underrating their amps so that would fit in with those subs wired at 2 ohms

What he said.^

That MTX would be a pretty good choice, they make some decent amps.
