Truth. The only things I'll add are be PATIENT and and use the "loosen-tighten-loosen" technique, or what I call "two steps forward-one step back" method.

Flex fuel takes the same plugs as the regular engine - Motorcraft SP-507 (single platinum) or SP-515 (double platinum).

Did a swap with 74k on my 06, always ran crap gas..i.e. not Chevron...Seafoamed it and ran some Techron fuel additive...used an impact...none broke.

hopefully you changed your oil afterwards also....

I looked it up - fordparts.com does not differentiate between standard and FFV. Same plugs.

The only plugs that are different are for the redesigned heads, which an 06 does not have. The new heads did not come out till mid-08 model year. Even with the redesigned heads, the plugs are the same for the regular and FFV engines. Starting in the 09 model year, all 5.4's are FFV. The plugs for the redesigned heads are SP-509's.

Ok well I'm about to go buy the plugs... I am so glad that I don't have to pay 12 dollars a piece jeeze! I'll do my oil change and stuff too for sure.
You are in Joplin? I have family there!
